(Insert cheesy theme music parody of Neverending Story here)

Here's the breakdown:
1 wk bleeding pre-MC
2 wks bleeding post MC
1.5 wks blissful nothing
4ks bleeding and still going

STOP IT YOU IDIOTIC BODY OF MINE! Sheesh. I don't think there's anything wrong with me, I am just tired of having to deal with this nonsense. I am going to have to reset my fertility monitor again because it's going to think I have 50 day cycles or something like that. When the doctor asks me what s the first day of your last period, I'm just going to have to say "January". Gah.

Thanks for letting me vent.

UPDATE
Ok, so my doctor called me back finally. Their offices were closed today and closed early yesterday because of the weather, so I wasn't expecting a call until tomorrow. I am paraphrasing what he said, but it went something like this:

Quote:
Because you didn't have a D&C, it is not uncommon to have spotting for several weeks before your first real period. The heavier bleeding that you're having now (note: which is still lighter than my normal period) is hormonally your first period after the miscarriage. Continue to watch for a week or two, if you're comfortable with that, and if the spotting doesn't stop, then we'll bring you in for a fluid ultrasound (which is different than a normal one) to see if there's any retained tissue.

There is no way you'll start hemorrhaging because there simply isn't enough of anything in there to cause that. After we do the fluid ultrasound, if we find anything, then we can discuss whether you want to remove it or see if your body expels it during the next period. The human body really is amazing and it does a great job of self correcting without doctors interfering.
I really like this doctor a lot, even though he is a man . Male OB/GYNs kind of freak me out, but his philosophies and mine really do line up and he's not an alarmist, which is really refreshing. My gut tells me that there is nothing wrong with me other than my body is taking its sweet time snapping back to normal. I also have to agree with him about how amazing the human body is. All of the stuff your body goes through when pregnant is freaking amazing, but the stuff it does going through a loss is pretty mind blowing too, even if the situation sucks. So anyway, there's my update. Hopefully this will be over in a day or two, when my normal period would end.

Maybe you can call the doctor and see if there is anything they can do to help you

When I am pregnant.

I don't have any appointments set up at the moment. They told me not to worry unless i was bleeding like crazy, which I am not. I am just wishful thinking that I'll get pregnant faster this time.

The earlier bleeding was all spotting, it's only gotten heavier in the last few days. So, I am hoping that the heavier bleeding is actually my period. If this doesn't stop after a couple of days, I'll call them again.

I hope the bleeding turns into a clear AF and then stops. I think it's worth getting checked out if you continue to bleed much longer.

Ooh, I'm with you, I hope this heavier bleeding is the real thing. Weeks of breakthrough bleeding is no good... Rant away, ma'am, I'd surely be ranting too!

Also, the A's in the title are singing, not screaming. YouTube of the OMG IT'S SO FREAKING CHEESY song.

I would have come up with my own lyrics, but I am too lazy.

Courtney - Please go see your doctor asap. Something is not right here and I feel you need to get looked at. At least call them and tell them what you are going through. Please.

I left a message for them to call me, but my instincts say that there isn't anything actually wrong with me.

I agree and would demand an ultrasound. 4 weeks of bleeding (even just spotting) is not normal though I hope it all turns out ok. Have the docs confirmed via u/s that you have no retained tissue?

They did two ultrasounds after my natural MC and they didn't see anything specifically, but refused to rule it out because I was still actively bleeding. The only thing that they said was, "We'd like the lining to be thinner". I switched doctors because the one I had, I didn't like because she was too alarmist.

My new doctor said that since my numbers were going down and I had stopped bleeding (at that point) to wait for my next cycle and if it wasn't excessive then not to worry. Most of the time, I barely needed 1 pad a day.

the nurse called me back and is going to check with the doctor to see what he thinks.

My one loss changed my cycle, so I wouldn't be a surprised if a slightly heavier period is your new norm. I understand how frustrating this is. Good for you for switching doctors. I hope things settle down in your body and return to normal quickly. Good luck, hun!

I hope everything is ok!! I know what you mean though, I feel like I've been wearing pads for two months now! it's 3 weeks since my last D&C and I've only had 3 days of no bleeding, most of it is spotting, only a couple days of light bleeding. Today will be day 4 if no blood shows up later on, I'm hoping it's FINALLY done! Keep us updated

Good luck to you too! One thing I've gotten out of this is an appreciation for "normal". I've always taken my normal cycle for granted. It was like clockwork and I never had to worry. I'm not worried now, just annoyed. Anyway, c'est la vie. Things will work out eventually, I am just impatient.

Please keep us updated. I am happy that you called your doctor. It is better to be checked out. After ending up in the hospital after my d&c from infection. I hope the bleeding stops for you soon.

I don't think bleeding continuously for 4 weeks is normal. After my two full term pregnancies I only bled heavily for about a week, then lightly for maybe another week or so, then spotted on and off for maybe another couple of weeks. I think your OB should really take another look.
