Acronyms You Refuse to Use Because They Are Weird and You Would Not Normally Say Them Out Loud
duh
Anyway, here is my list and explanations if I feel they are warranted. Feel free to post your own list. I am amusing myself during lunch.
AF - do you guys really say "Aunt Flow" out loud? Who came up with this expression? Did someone have a particularly nasty aunt named Florence and one day they decided, "You know what? I'll teach her. To thousands of women, her name will be synonymous with menstruation. HA HA HA ha HA haH hahahahahaha" while also curling up into a ball and rocking in the corner of a room somewhere?
BD - Bed dancing or baby dancing. Either way it's silly. I don't do anything that even remotely resembles dancing during sex. Maybe it's just me. Baby dancing reminds me of those creepy videos from a few years back.
DTD - Same number of letters as sex, so what are we saving here, really? Also, it sounds like June Cleaver is trying to talk about sex but afraid to actually say the word.
EWCM - Never ever ever would I say this out loud. Nor would I ever talk to someone about the state of the fluids in that area of my body. It's just not right.
DH/DS/D? - I never call my husband darling or dear, even though he is both of those things. Same thing for my son. I literally read "Darling Husband" every time I see "DH" in a post. DF and DB always throw me off track because I have to stop and think about it, "Wait, is she saying Darling Friend...what starts with F that applies here? F-ff-f-f--f-f-fffffff...oh fiance!" Yeah, it's like that.
That's my list for now. I know there are more, but I can't think of them right now.
This is a fun post I have nothing to contribute, just wanted to say that "my husband Zach" and I both say "Baby dance" to each other. We think that one is really cute... When I'm waiting to ovulate, he'll snuggle up to my neck sometimes and ask if it's time to baby dance yet

May 2012: 75 IU Follistim starting CD 3. Waiting to O. Timed intercourse. Likely 5 follies to mature.
Actually, I do have a friend I talk about my cm to. We're very open with each other. The only thing that we really hold back are the details of sex with our husbands.
DTD -- my 12 year old cousin refers to going poop as "doing the deed" ("Ugh! It stinks in the bathroom! Did somebody do the deed?!!") so this one definitely throws me off a bit
Also on other boards here on JM when ladies refer to either "breast milk" or a "birth mother" as BM it just kills me. I used to work in healthcare and BM stands for one thing...BOWEL MOVEMENT!
I did used to discuss my CM in graphic detail with a friend who was also TTC for a long time (she is now pregnant so those discussions have ceased).
this totally cracked me up.
i just say hubby lol
i do use AF but only because i am lazy and it is quicker to type lol
and ewcm when talking to my ttc girlfriend.

Do not ever give up hope...
I feel the same about BM -- bowel movement! We talk about BM a lot in my anatomy class, where it stands for "Basement membrane," which has to do with cells and crap.

This is hilarious! Thanks for bringing this back up! I can definitely agree that BM should never be used in polite conversation.
I do use DH myself because it's shorter, but I never say it out loud.
I have had the pleasure of discussing CM with a girl friend of mine...we're both TTC so....lol. Other than that, um, nope! "AF" is preferable to "menstruation", but heck, just say period. Then everyone will know what you're talking about. My DH is funny, he'll even get AF wrong when he says it and uses a different female name...I guess Aunt "anything" stands for your period now?? lol.
Lol I actually have talked about EWCM with my doctor and with another person who is TTC. AF... well most of the time DH says "do you have your friend" or "is it that time of the month". I don't really call it Aunt Flow but say it's my period. DH is shorter than husband on here but I don't call him that. Now I do say "do the deed"
And btw Courtney I laughed just as hard re-reading this as I did the first time I read it
