Would love to hear stories about your experiences with clomid –*why did you take it/why did you need it? what side effects did it have?
Thanks! Hoping to read some BFP posts this months from you still TTC.

Have you taken it or thinking about taking it?
Kary - who used to be a co-host here took it for 3 cycles and had twin girls!
I took it but the side effects were so nasty on me that I had to stop after 2 cycles.

No I haven't tried it, but thinking of asking my doc if I'm a candidate for it. I have cycles that range from 26-38 days, even charting bbt is confusing to predict O'v.
Why did you go on it, if I may ask? what were your side effects?

I went on Clomid as I am 41 (almost 42) and we had 2 losses. So we went to an RE and that was our 1st line of treatment. Side effects were: hot flashes, horrible emotional disturbance, dried up cm, and my lining was so thin that even if we did get pregnant there was very little chance of implantation.
I am definitely not a clomid hater - in fact I have seen lots of girls graduate out of here successfully by using it, it just wasn't right for me. Then again I am an old lady so there are other challenges going on.
What about you? How long have you been TTC? Why do you want to take it? Have you been to an RE? Have you had any testing done? How old are you? Where in NY are you? (I grew up in Syracuse and also lived in Orange and Rockland counties).

I went on it to have a stronger O. But like Missy I have really horrible side effects from it (headache, mood swings, hot flashes) So people also take Femara, I tried it and it had less side effects. I would talk to your doctor and see which one is right for you.

I took it because we TTC for a year after our loss and I had late, irregular ovulation. I had no real side effects from it, except that after several cycles my lining had just started to thin a little. It moved up my O date, and I had nice follies each cycle.

This was my first month trying it, and I had some horrible side effects. Hot flashes, mood swings, dry CM, headaches.
But it did move up my O. My doc put me on it because my cycles were getting longer and longer, (last one was 56 days!) And i'm on CD 29 now. I'm having some brownish spotting, so I don't know if it's AF or what. But i'm hoping not. I will do another round if this one didn't get me a sticky bean.
Good luck, and I hope it works for you!!

I took it because I don't O on my own. I got pregnant the first cycle I tried it. The side effects not only vary from person to person but each time you take it. The first time I took it I only had some minor hot flashes. The second time I was in a serious depression, almost suicidal. The third time it was just the hot flashes and mood swings.

ooh, your side effects sound awful and you are not an old lady, hehe! Definitely some things to think about. Did they put you on something else?
I'm a few months away from the fabulous 3-0.
TTC since AUGUST 2009 (unprotected since May 2009), had 1 m/c in early Sept. My cycles are 26-38 days in length. The 38d are the WORST. I always think I'm prego. was hoping clomid would make them regular and shorter.
Have not been to RE. Been seen by OBGYN and DH has been to a urologist/had vari surgery. All my blood work, HSG, ultrasounds were normal.
I'm in Dutchess Co! this area is horrible for infertility!

I'm sorry about the side effects. that sounds terrible! :-(
Amy I hope you get your sticky bean this month! Your post really helped. Maybe clomid could shorten my cycles.

I took it for 2 cycles and nothing, the third cycle we went for the big guns with injectables and got pregnant with twins.
I don't really remember too many bad side effects, I was just super anxious to get pregnant! If I don't get my sticky bean this cycle we may do a round of clomid, not sure yet need tot talk to he RE.

You are still young so that is a good thing! I would go see your doctor and ask her/him about it. It sounds like your testing came back ok and you would be a good candidate for it. Good Luck!
