My DH bought me a really gorgeous bouquet of flowers for Valentine's day. He was disapointed because when he got to the flower shop there were no roses left. I am not a huge fan of flowers since I am deathly allergic to them but roses usually don't bother me that much. He opted to buy a really nice arrangement. Since he brought them home I have been sneezing and my nose is running and I just feel like crap in general. He keeps asking if I am getting a cold or something and I just keep saying "I don't know" because I don't want him to feel bad.

Is it mean for me to be anxious for my flowers to die so I can throw them away??? haha...

No, it is not mean of you at all. But you need to find a way to tell him the truth - otherwise you will get flowers down the road and they will continue to make you sick! Just let him know while you appreciate his gesture and love him very much you are allergic to flowers and they make you sick. An alternative idea for a great gift would be xxxxxx or xxxxxxx. Does that make sense?

I would put a manicure or massage in those spots but you get the idea. Can you put them in a different part of the house for now?

I agree with Missy. No use wasting the money on something that makes you sick. Just tell him that while you love the flowers they make you sick.

I have the same problem. So far I've found roses, tulips, and irises don't cause me to be miserable. Maybe suggest some of those types (with less pollen) to him?

Thanks for the advice ladies. I think he realizes what is happening. He asked me last night if I really like getting flowers and I do but just not the real smelly ones.

He understands but in his defence....it was all the flower shop had left when he got there.
