I know we may have differing opinions on here and I don't mean to get anything started but:

Read this article and the comments. Most of the comments just bother me. I think the punishments in this country are to little to begin with. I know the full story since it's my "boss" - police chief - that almost got run over and I realize that there are things that was intentionally held back from the press that might change peoples minds but still, come on people. He INTENTIONALLY ( I can say that he DID know a cop was behind him) tries to run over someone, LEO or not, and he should just get sent to rehab because "it's not his fault, it's the drugs"? What if it was their child he almost ran over. Would they feel the same way then?

Wow, I personally think that they are too lenient on people in this country. Here is something that just happened where I live this past weekend. It's just scary anymore.

Hello, as a law enforcement officer myself, I couldn't agree more that we are way too easy on offenders these days. They get off on technicalities all the time and I feel like the victim is the one on trial. It's sad and makes me so angry.

I watched Oprah the other day where these parents were charged with child abuse becuase they held their daughter in a cage in the basement but they got ONE YEAR...ONE YEAR???? What is that??? Makes me crazy!

These stories are crazy. Really? Katie - they let the guy out on a lower bail amount only for him to kill the girl the same day.... How sad.

Missy, Yes it is very sad. $100,000 bail for kidnapping this poor woman a gunpoint the day before. I just don't understand it. Then today they left this guy post bail that killed his son

It's hard to really even think about all the horrible things that people do to other people.

We are WAY too lenient! There are other countries out there who have such a low crime rate because there are severe penalties for crimes. Here we give such light sentences and even when they are in jail the accommodations are better than some of them were living in when they were out on the street. It's pitiful!
