My SIL started miscarrying last night. She said that as soon as she saw the blood she knew she was losing the baby. She went the ER and it was really busy. She waited there for 4 1/2 hours with her husband and small children and was never seen. The ER told her what was going on with her was not important enough. She is furious. She is bleeding horrible but I do not think she is in much pain. I feel so bad for her. Her three year old keeps telling everyone that her mommy bled all over the bed. It just breaks my heart. Her husband leaves for training on Monday. He is in the army. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
UPDATE:
I talked to my SIL yesterday. As of then her bleeding was subsiding and she has had no pain. Which shocks me because I bled for days and had the worst pain of my life. She thinks that she has passed everything. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.

Poor thing. That is horrible that the ER would tell them that her issue was not important enough to be seen! I would go off on someone if they told me that, epsecially after waiting 4.5 hours! I hope that once things calm down for her she sits down and writes a nasty letter to the hospital's administration.

I am so sorry
Are there army doctors that could look at her? If she is bleeding that much she needs to be seen.

Ugh, Cait, I'm so sorry for what your family is going through right now. If she was seen on-base, military medicine makes no sense, and I could absolutely see them telling her something so callous. I went to the on-base ER about a month ago for shortness of breath/fever/coughing and ended up having pneumonia. I got an X-Ray BEFORE the girl sitting across from me, who was crying and cradling a BADLY broken hand. I've also seen them let a woman with severe chest pains who was gasping for breath just sit out in the waiting room, told her to stop panicking and breathe normally, that she has to wait to be seen. It looked like she was starting to have a heart attack... I RARELY use our medical benefits... I use the pharmacy because we get meds for free through them, and every now and then I'll use the ER (which is a spouse's version of same-day care, like if you have a sore throat or a broken hand or any range of same-day needs). I hope your sister is able to get the care she needs, whether it's through civilian medicine or military "care." (Some military docs are good, I can't badmouth them all, but the system as a whole SUCKS.)

She was seen on post. The same thing happened to her when she had her first m/c before she had her first child. She tried to make an appointment today and they told her they could not fit her in. She is bleeding heavily and I told her she needs to go see someone but since her husband leaves on Monday she does not want to miss any time with him.
Thanks you ladies so much!

Uggh that makes me sad and very angry!! Hospitals should take heavy bleeding during pregnancy very seriously - there's the possibility of ectopics, which could basically kill a woman. I don't understand how they could treat her like that, I'm so sorry!! Maybe if she complained of really bad pain they would see her??

She is being really stubborn right now. She does not want to leave her husband right now. I agree that she really needs to be seen. I think if she went to the ER and told them she was in horrible pain that they would see her.

Yeah, same-day appointments pretty much don't exist. It sucks, but she needs to go to the ER and just wait it out, and definitely play up the symptoms and say it hurts worse than it does. Like Judy said, it could be ectopic if she's bleeding that much, and that's DANGEROUS. Walk funny, make noise, say she's bleeding more than she really is... Military medicine is a game you have to play. I'm SO sorry
