First off I LOVE my DR. I need to stop asuming they will not help me just because my old DR was a crappy DR.
So we went right into the ultrasound room and he did a ultrasound. Baby still had no heartbeat and his words were "aww man I so wanted to be wrong and have you be my miracle". He then looked around a little then showed me the sac is starting to collapes and said there is progress to getting close to it passing soon. Said he will give me until the end of March and then we need to try the pills or I need a D&C. I told him if I did a D&C I am going to a clinic. He said the clinic here in town he knows the DR and said he is very good. He said he would be my back up DR in case something happen and would back me all the way and does not blame me for wanting to save $3000.00 by going that route. I guess most DRs dont want to touch you after you had a clinic so your D&C but he said no problem.
So then he sat in there and talked with me for over an hour. When I left the waiting room was full..lol
We talked about all types of testing to do and what we have already done. He also said after looking with U/S I have some questions for you.
Do you have body hair problems? YES
Do you have acne problems YES
Weight problems... well I am not huge but could stand to be about 20-30 pounds less so YES
Asked about my periods history... another YES
I asked about my head aches and overwhelming tiredness all the time and he said could be because PCOS makes your body act like you are diabetic.
So with my symptoms and I guess the way my ovaries look he said I am pretty much text book PCOS.
SO he put me on Metformin. He also took more blood and then wants more blood again once my betas are back to zero because that can effect this test ( I think he said more clotting panel).
So I am going to be taking Metformin, 2 times a day, baby asprine, Prenatals and extra vitiman D because I am exptremly low on it. So I will be a walking drug cocktail.
He said all my losses have been right about the 8 week mark. During this time the placenta starts to take over. He said during this time your progestrome will dip and should come back up but with my hormones being so out of wack mine may be dipping and then not coming back. so around that time he wants to watch that or maybe just put me on progesterone for the 1st trimester just to be safe.
He said his wife has PCOS and has done speacial training in this so sounds like I might be in good hands.
It feel so good to have answers. And some hope for next time.
Before I ever got pregnant I was having cycles that were 32 days-9 months long. I saw a DR back then and was told to get checked for PCOS but I did not have insurance so I forgot about it. I ended up getting pregnant that next summer and I thought if you get pregnant with out meds you must not have PCOS so that never crossed my mind again until today.
OH he said if I have one more loss he wants to team me up with one of this freinds who is a speacialist.

I guess he did not want to talk about this last time after giving me the bad news. He wanted me to digest things a little and when I was ready he was going to talk me about all this.
It sucks I am still in this situation but I feel so great that I might have an answer and its totally not what I expected.

I am sorry, I did not mean to downplay what you are going through. It is a miserable, heart wrenching thing to lose a baby. Getting answers and a hopeful future is what got me excited.
I hope you don't end up having to go through all this and then get the D&C after all.

I think it is so wonderful when you find a doctor that is really compassionate and takes good care of you, getting down to the root of the problem. Very happy to hear that there is some possible help to all of this and maybe this little angel of yours was trying to help you get better, a true angel in your life in more ways than one. Perhaps saving your health and life now instead of getting real sick down the road.
Excellent update sweetie!!!

Lindsey, Sounds like you have a very caring doctor. I also have PCOS. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. There is a PCOS board on here also. I take Metformin. I take it 3 times a day. It helps when you have a doctor that has done special training in PCOS. My ob has done a lot of training with PCOS and he has a lot of success of helping women get pregrant and stay pregrant.

I did not think that. I too am excited. If this is the right diagnosis my risk rate with the meds now drops below the normal persons.
I am made at myseld for never looking more into it 5 years ago when a DR thought I had it... Just think if I did I might have been able to avoid all this?

I had no clue PCOS caused miscarriage everyone I ever talked to that had it had problems getting pregnant and had to be on fertilirty drugs. So in my mind getting pregnant was never the problem because so some reason when TTC I had someone what normal cycles (maybe OPKS could be to blame too). I had no clue it can give you such a high miscarriage rate.
Are you on Metformin?
I hope the weight loss he warned me about is true...lol
Getting this news to me is almost as exciting as find out I am pregnant again or something. I just feel this giant light bulb in my body going on.

Thanks I think I might come join you guys on that board to get more info about it.
He seems to have very high hopes that this med might just be my ticket to bringing home a baby next time.
So now I want to hurry and TTC...lol But I want to wait until closer to July so I can still go to Florida in Febuary..lol
I don't know what I would do if I had not found this group.... you guys help me keep my head up and help me push forward.
I am sure when the miscarriage starts or I have to have a D&C I will need you all to lean on even more.

Having the right doctor makes all of the difference. I'm glad you found someone that works with you and not against you.

So I went on PCOS group and those ladies are telling no way I have PCOS because I got pregnant with out help from meds.
I asked my DR this and he said there are different forms or levels of this. I do have irregular periods and some months my OPK's never go positive so he suspects I might not ovulate every time.
The nurse just called and said my progestrone is now at 7 and the DR said once it drops below that miscarriage typically happens so to expect it in the next couple days.
I just went to the bathroom and think I may have some light spotting but hard to tell.
No now I am more confused than ever... do I believe a DR who went to school for this or people are are living with this?
I asked the nurse how he could diagnose me with out testing me and she said if you have these things wrong you probably have it. She said once I pass everything to make a follow up and I can ask him then to maybe do a glucose test.
SO CONFUSED NOW
I thought I might have answers and now I feel like I am back to ZERO.
All my blood tests came back in normal range too.

First I would like to mention that it seems like you have a great Doctor... It helps that he put you at ease and answered most of your questions...
Although you are confused now from reading other scenarios of PCOS I would side with the Dr because his wife has PCOS and seems like he did massive research on it.
Hopefully you will pass soon and that you can have additional answers... I'm sure that every body works differently with PCOS and your body is different with others! Let your doctor do the testing and try not to get yourself worked up on it.

I am on Meformin but I have to warn you... it's not fun at all!! I still have to watch what I eat and still end up running to the bathroom several times a day with the runs from it. I also get horrible stomach cramps. The weightloss part is partially true because you have to watch what you eat more and also with the bathroom issue.

I'm going to say this an nicely as I can... DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU DON'T HAVE PCOS JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE "TEXTBOOK SYMPTOMS". I have PCOS, diagnosed by the doctor that I have now. She did the 3 hour glucose testing and I am insulin resistant (PCOS symtom), I also had the not being able to lose weight (PCOS) and cystic ovaries (PCOS) but my previous doctors would not diagnose me with it because I can get pregnant, I do ovulate (not always but sometimes on my own) and because I am over-all healthy. There are so many women who actually have it and never know because they are mis-diagnosed or not diagnosed at all. Your rate for M/C increases significantly with PCOS. Honestly from your symptoms I can tell you that I DO feel that you have PCOS. I would agree with your doctor.
