Statistically up to around a fifth of our awesome hosts will have endo, whether they have been diagnosed or not.

Between 10-20% of women in the US have endometriosis and around 2 million women in the UK alone are thought to live with this condition.

The statistics may be far higher as so many women go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

I was diagnosed at the age of 20 after 6 years of extremely heavy periods and 4 years of unbearable pain. I was only diagnosed because I pushed and pushed for a laparocopy - I was told repeatedly I was 'too young' for endo and many women go through the same difficulty when they are looking for a cause behind their issues.

Here is a post I wrote on my blog in March last year. I'd like to share it with you:

I feel even more blessed now that I have my precious Sam. I never, ever, not for a moment forget how lucky I am. I am looking forward to a day when I have completed my family and can say buh-bye to the bits that don't work and won't have to worry about expensive, codeine-fulled shopping trips. (long story.... the short version is not to let me go shopping on pain meds, I buy everything from a hand blender because the price sounded cool to microwavable rice when we don't have a microwave!)

If you have endometriosis or suspect that you may do, please come and drop by the TTC with Endometriosis board. Even if you are not TTC right now, several of the girls on the board are not TTC either and a lot of the talk is about living with endo. We would be really glad for new faces and I'd love to see any of you girls over there

Also, I would love to get the board busy, especially as it is Endo Awareness Month. If you are happy for me to post an invite on your board please let me know, or alternatively if you would like to post bout Endo Awareness Month on your board you are welcome to quote any of my post to do so.

Thank you!

Thank you for posting this Katie! I was diagnosed last month with endo. I went to my regular doctor this morning and told her about the endo and meds I am on. She said wow you are young to have these medical problems that does not say good things about your future. I was so so mad!!!
