Okay, so another cycle bust. I know we timed everything right, but still nada. So the doctor is doing another round of clomid 50 mgs on days 3-7. This will be my third cycle taking it. While I hate the side effects (I think I have every one in the book. Plus DH hides from me, so I won't rip into him for every single thing) I love the fact that it took my cycles from 36-56 days, down to 28. I mean the past two times I took it, I didn't even get to the testing part of it because AF came before my planned testing days.
(Good for my wallet. Bad for my POAS addiction)
So, when I was talking to my doctor today (who favors clomid because, he says he's had more success with it) and he told me, he would give me a choice next cycle on what to do, if I don't catch the egg this time. I have options of upping the dosage of clomid, or trying different medications (I'm not sure which. He mentioned Femara, and a few others, and said he'd go into more detail when it came to it) So, my problem is, is that I don't know what I should do.
Will the higher dose of clomid, help even more? I mean my cycle length are already my dream length, and that's basically what clomid does, right? Just regulates ovulation mostly, yeah? What's the difference between Femara, and Clomid? And what other medications out there are there that he could possibly be talking about?
Anyone have any wise words?
Oh and Celena if you are reading this, I was thinking about adding DEHA to my regimen as well, can you help me with how many mgs I should start with? How much I should put DH on?
Thanks in advance!

I have tried Clomid several times. If the 50mg is working for you and making you ovulate I'm not sure why they would want to up the dosage... Have they done a SA for DH yet? Also make sure you ask them to monitor your lining. If your on Clomid for a prolonged period of time it does mess with your lining and make it so that getting pregnant isn't feasible (your lining is too thin to support a pregnancy). I also tried Femara. (I think it's almost the same as clomid) I didn't have the side effects like I do with Clomid BUT I don't think it helped me ovulate as well as the Clomid did.

I am no help at all. My doctor never tried me on Clomid. My doctor liked Femara better for women who has PCOS. Femara didn't work for me. Although Soy has worked for me.

Amy please ask your doctor for a referral to a RE. I think your cycles really need to be monitored while you're taking these drugs- they can tell you if your lining is thick enough, when your egg(s) are ready, if you're ovulating on your own or if you need a trigger shot. Plus they will do additional testing like a SA for DH and a HSG to make sure your tubes and uterus are clear. I really really really think a RE is the best bet for you. If it takes a while to get into a RE, I would do another cycle of the same dose of Clomid in the meantime.

I totally agree with Nicole, you should be seen by an RE. The monitoring is so important, to let you know if what they are doing is even working the way they want it to. I dont understand how they give meds like that without monitoring. I personally favor Femara, Clomid gave me terrible side effects. Other than O pain, I had no side effects with femara, and since I have O pain, with or without meds, it was only a little worse. But it worked for me, so its my favourite!

I don't have advice but I think it would be a good idea to see an RE as well. They might be able to help you better. *hugs*

Totally ditto this!!
I did two cycles of Clomid/trigger/IUI through my RE then we moved on to Gonal. I did not want to end up taking time off to let my lining go back to normal. That's why this time I am planning on skipping Clomid completely.
Before the trigger and IUI they measured my lining and made sure the follies were good and there weren't to many. RE's really up the chances of success.

I would second the RE. I don't have a ton of experience, but had a consult and have been followed by my RE for a few weeks now since my BFP. I'm amazed at my RE's knowledge and depth at which they look into everything and monitor you each step of the way.
Sending you lots of luck!!

Amy I take 50mg's daily, but stop it as soon as you get a bfp.
Allot of fertility docs will put their patients on it prior to iui or ivf to help boost the quality of eggs. So it might be a wonderful addition to your regimen
Sorry it took so long to answer, I've been working and sorta blue.
