Do you like your neighbors? Do you even know them?

We've lived here 15 months and have only said a few words to our neighbors on the right, never spoken to the ones on the left. It's sad, I know.

Well I've lived in my house for 7 years and only know a couple of the neighbors (ones with kids or in the military), but we just bought a new house and I've only been there on the weekends and several of the neighbors have stopped by. Several had already heard our story (names, where we're from, kids, jobs). One even brought over a plate of cupcakes. Most of our new neighbors are retired so I don't know if that is why. My dad thinks it is a good thing, but I'm not extremely social (dh thinks I have social anxieties). . . . anyway, I was just wondering if this is normal?

From what I've seen in our neighborhood not many people really talk to their neighbors. I've only seen two of them communicate on a regular basis. My neighborhood is about 90% military and my thinking is I really don't want to get to know them and then have them leave I've already had to do enough of that with DH being in the military. Now that we are where we're staying I don't want to have to do it anymore.

Yeah the old house has a strong military community that is always changing. We have met some, but then they moved on us . . . maybe since this new neighborhood is more stagnant, people have a chance to get to know each other. I'll just have to get used to it.

There is a guy and his wife who are constantly walking their dogs and they always stop and talk to us. We do not know anyone else around us though.

My husbands uncle lives on the right side of us and on the right side of him is my husbands grandparents (Ethan's great).
On the left side of us is an older couple...they are "ok". Nice but old and set in their ways.

We say hi when we are outside but other than that we all pretty much stick to ourselves.

My BF & I share part of a driveway with my best friend and her in-laws so it's a great situation. I love being so close to her! Her in-laws are my ex-BF's parents and I am still very close to them which is nice.

We've lived in Tehachapi for 2.5 years. Our first year was spent in an apartment. The last 18 months we have spent in our first house together. Some of the families in our complex were real nice. The others were not to be trusted. The people we live next to now we don't really see at all. I don't get creepy vibes from any of them yet, and I've met them all.

Our neighbor to the right of us is Dh's sister and family. Our neighbor to the left is someone I have never met. Dh knows him. Everyone around us has couple of acres so we aren't close to anyone which is nice. We probably have the most land which is nice.

I just moved to this house recently, haven't really seen much of my neighbours except when our car was stuck in the snow they came out to help. This whole town is full of nice people though so i suspect i'll be getting to know the neighbours in the summer when everyone's outside more.

We know most of them. DH has lived there for 10 years, I have for 3 1/2 years. We know everyone on our immediate street area (which is 7 houses). Rest of the neighborhood, we will stop and say hi if we see them out when either of us are out walking.
Our whole subdivision is only about 20 houses.

I love livng so close to Dh's sister. She was the one that talked Dh into putting the ad on Yahoo. We hit it off the first time we met. She is like a sister to me. I called her down on Saturday telling her I had a picture for her to see. I showed her the picture of pumpkin and she started to cry.
