I have now had my 3rd loss (not in a row though just 2 in a row).
Dr put me on Metformin and baby asprin and thinks this might be my ticket to making it to term.
Here is the WWYD question. Do I take a chance again and just pray I do not have another loss?
I have been questioning wheather to see a speacialist or not. I said something to my DR and he said typically its 3 losses and in row before a speacialist will want to see you, and he truly belives this drug combo is going to get me there next time. He said he has a really good friend who is a speacalist and if I have another loss he wants to team up with him and see what he thinks.
So should I wait for another loss or just go behind my DR's back and search out a speacialist?

I'm a big believer in RE's vs OB's. It really can't hurt to call around and see what they say. I started seeing mine after 2 losses, but age was a factor for me too.

I think you should follow your heart on this one. I will tell what I have been taking with this pregnancy. I am taking Metformin, baby asprin and prometrium 3 times a day for my low Progesterone. I am also taking extra folic acid. I have never made it this far in a pregnancy before. I feel pregnant and have morning sickness which I love.
I hope what ever you deceide gives you your rainbow baby.

This is a hard question.... I myself went behind my Drs back, I went to an RE after my third loss... Long story.. his Partner said my blood work came back fine, (I work in the hospital I had the blood drawn and looked up my own blood work) And it did show a problem MTHFR... So I didn't need a referal so I just went. They did more blood work on me and my DH (Than the problem started) My insurance doesn't cover infertility so we had to fight a 8,600 dollar bill for my Dh for HIS blood work... mine was cover since they billed it under multiple m/c. The RE wanted more tests for me (to check tubes and uterus..) .. and DH (SA that we had to pay out of pocket and it came back Horriable.. Another long story I think it was more stage frieght since we had concieved three times they told him they were suprised we had concieved at all... and we should do IUI)
So will all this... I ended up called my OB... and spent over 45 min on the phone.. since I wanted A PLAN!
So he brought me in for day3 blood work.. and than for an U/S on CD12 to check follies... saw that I had nothing that would produce a viable egg. (I was put on clomid) the next cycle... I started Clomid was brought in for U/S's on Cd12 to make sure the clomid was working.. I was than told what day to start the baby aspirin and progesterone. Was told to test on 12dpo.. to 14dpo... if negative test to stop the baby aspirin and progesterone. Than we repeated that three times.before I got my BFP... with our rainbow babies...
So that is what I did.....

He checked my progestrone at 4 weeks and then never checked it again. He said something about progestrone is hard to follow because it naturally dips and rises all through your pregnancy so he only does the first 2 checks and that is it.
But the baby was alive for almost 5 weeks after that so who knows what happen. I think he said they are going to watch my levels closer next time.
I would really like to see the speacialist he would recomend.... maybe I should call in and ask? I just hate to make this DR think I do not trust him because I have already gone behind his back and got a second opinon on the whole PCOS thing(that DR called him to talk to him about his testing and stuff so I know he knows).
I really like him and this office in the ONLY one around here that can give me the birth I want and after a tramatic experiance with my DD's birth that means a lot to me.
$ is another issue the co-pays are killing me a specialist will be $50.00 each visit!
my DR is $35 and every visit is charged until I go into regualr prenatal care so this last pregnancy I am at about $200.00 and the pregnancy before that was about $3100 with the D&C.

I think all doctors understand about us wanting to get a second opinon. I know with the first baby I lost I went and got a second opinon. I am now back with my orginal Ob and he knows I went to see some body else. He was ok with it.

I think that you have to do what you feel comfortable with. My doctor is not an RE. But she does specialize in infertility. She is a good fit with me because she knows that I know my own body. I can call her and tell her how I'm feeling and she listens and doesn't tell me I'm crazy. I never have a problem with getting in touch with her I even have her cell phone number now. So I honestly think it's whatever is a best fit for you.

I also think that if your more comfortable getting another opinion it can't hurt. Just make sure it is covered by your insurance because I imagine it can get costly.

How do you feel with the medicines he gave you? In your heart do you feel that is what you need to stay pregnant? Are you excited about this plan or do you feel that something different is needed?

At this point I dont know.
I have had a hard day today. I have been spotting for over a week now but nothing productive has happened. So I am going to do another round of cytotec.
I am just so lost and confused I don't know where to turn or who to trust.
I even call the abortion clinic to see about fees and stuff.

I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. When are you going to start the other round of cytotec? I wish I could give you a hug in person.

THANK YOU!! I could really use a hug. I feel like I am over losing the baby part its just all this crap and having to deal with it that sucks.
I have a meeting with a client tomorrow so I wanted to wait until that was over before I took the meds because she is in town for 1 day and trying to get as many of her wedding vendors booked and if I cancel I will probably lose her... right now I need to book as many weddings as I can and make as much money as I can because all this keeps costing more and more.

Doctors should expect all of their patients to get second opinions. If you feel better about it, you can just tell your current doctor that you don't want to harm your doctor-patient relationship with him, but that your fertility and future children deserve a second opinion.
It sounds like you have some nagging doubts about not getting a second opinion, and I think for that reason, it makes sense to get one. This is not something you'd want to be worrying about when you get pregnant again.
What a rough situation Huge hugs!

I got a second opinon about the meds and stuff I just did not know what a specialist does that an OB does not do. I don't really need help getting pregnant just staying pregnant.
I am just at the point where I am questioning everything.

Thank you Katie, you have been a god send letting me talk to you ALL day and night on facebook to get through this.
Things have not slowed down so I think this could be it... still taking my cytotec today just to give it a boost and help reduce my D&C risk.
