We won't be celebrating big with everything going on but I will make the family some corn-beef and cabbage. Anyone have any tested true recipes for me?
As my boys last name is O'Brien they are just a little Irish.

I was just going to add a little green food coloring to the mashed potatoes, and attempt to make mint green milkshakes like mcdonalds has since there isn't one around here...mmmmmm.
Other than that, not really doing anything special. I guarantee my bf will be talking in a horrible irish accent for everything tommorow though lol.

We will be going to the benefit that is held in my grandpa's honor at the Knights of Columbus. My family is not irish, but grandpa was born on St. Pat's Day and his name was Pat so was have always celebrated the day. Some Smithwicks for me, some Guiness for DH, and lots and lots of corned beef and cabbage! (The best food combo EVER in case anyone was wondering.) Then we are heading home and making a baby! (hopefully anyway!)
Has anyone here ever corned their own beef? I would love to try, but it seems so daunting.

First year in a long time I'm not cooking corned beef. We are leaving for my parents as soon as DS gets ready for bed (he gets to sleep on the way)
Missy- I've always just done the corned beef in the crock pot with extra pickling spice (about a tablespoon extra to what comes in the package with the corned beef)
then steam the cabbage separately.
Also it's really good with a hot mustard sauce- make a basic white sauce and whisk in dry mustard and a little horseradish (depends on the amounts of sauce)
A good proportion-
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoon mustard (to taste really)
1 tablespoon horseradish
This one is easy- you can thin it with a little extra milk if you like it thinner. I really like mustard so I tend to be heavy handed, DH though likes it milder.

Thanks Sam. I am going to try that. We are all big mustard and horseradish eaters in this house so it sounds yummy!

Nothing to celebrate St. Patricks Day. We are going to the high risk specialist though to do the other half of our testing!

Thank you.
It already started last night and have some cramping but have not passed anything that I would think I should so I am going to take the pills to maybe make it happen faster and to hopfully be complete. Yesterday the nurse said he wants to see me next Thursday and we need to figure out our plan from there.
He is doing a ultrasound and if I am all clear then I can finally move on if not then I will need a D&C and all this waitng for a month was for nothing. Kinda embarrased about the ultrasound because I bet it will be vaginal and I know in a week I will still be bleeding or spotting some..... I embarass very easy.
This has been the hardest loss for me so far. Just trying to keep my head up and pray that I get pregnant really quick this summer so I dont have much more waiting.
It is supposed to be almost 70 here today and the grass is turing green so i think I am going to take my DD out side this afternoon if I am not in to much pain and let her get some pent up energy out and I think the fresh air and sun will be good for me.
