I cannot shake the blues. I was labelled clinically depressed when I was in high school. I was on all kind of meds for a couple of years then went off of them on my own cold turkey when I was 17. They were changing my personality. I think it was just normal teenage girl hormones and typical blue moments. I know I am depressed again, but I think it is related to the Lupron. I was told that it was normal to be depressed while on it. I don't know what to do. I am constantly tired and have no energy. And I feel sad the majority of the time. I see pregnant women or babies and I just want to curl in a ball and cry. My mom wants me to call the doctor and ask to be put on Lexapro or some depression medicine. But I do not really want to go on something for five months then have to wean myself off. I knew these months on Lupron were going to be hard and I am not complaining because it is all worth it to be able to have a baby.

I understand how you feel. I have struggled with depression most of my life. I am finally in a spot now where I no longer have it. Only because I got away from a horrible mother basically and have a wonderful loving husband. I don't think I can help you but wanted to say your not alone.
***hugs to you***

Have you thought about Wellbutrin? It is a much easier drug (at least for me) to stop taking. I remember trying Paxil many years ago and to get off of it was horrible. I went into withdraws for weeks. With Wellbutrin, the day I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking it with no problems. I am not saying it is for you but you may want to ask your doc about it.

Thank you! My husband helps me quite a bit. But when he is not here I struggle. We have a lot of family drama right now as well and that definately is not helping.

I did not think of that one. How long does it take to kick in?

For me just a few days and then levels out within 2 weeks. It gave me a lot of energy when I took it and I lost weight. It was what works for me!

I agree with Missy I would try the welbutrin. I've tried several different anti-depressants and that is the only one that "works" for me. I am sorry your feeling so down.

I hadn't thought about Wellbutrin in awhile. You're right it's easy to stop with no lasting effects but you have to be careful. In my case I had to wean off by lowering the dosage.
I forget my meds for three days when I went out of town for a rush vacation and by the time I arrived home I thought I was dying or really sick. The only way to describe it was like my body kept getting "shocked" and I would feel dizzy or "spin" for a moment. It was finally on the 5th day when the episodes were coming every 10 min or less and I was about to go to the hospital when I realized what might be causing it. One pill and by the next day I was fine. After that I just lowered the dosage by cutting the pills and I was done with no effects in just about 2 weeks. It seemed to work really well for me except for that scary couple days when I screwed up.

I'll agree with both Katie and Missy - Wellbutrin is probably the fastest acting and easiest to go off of in terms of the major antidepressants out there. Prozac is always a good standby but it takes a lot longer to act and it has the unfortunate sexual side effects which is not good when TTC :-) Welbutrin also has a very low range of annoying side effects, and happily, weight loss is one of them, as well as a ton of energy. Its also great for anxiety...and for some reason, I got very organized when I took it. My house and closet were the cleanest they've ever been. Its probably the closest thing to a "happy pill" that I've ever taken.
I had to go off, I unfortunately had bad luck on it with side effects, weight gain and hair loss, but I also have a few other health issues I'm dealing with as well, so I think that may have been part of it.
Definitely ask your doc if you can switch. Its also on the 4 dollar formulary for many pharmacies for the generic, so its also super inexpensive.

I am going away for a week next week and I am going to see how things go. If I am still feeling like this then I will call the doctor when I get back.

I was on Prozac and Wellbutrin. (Not at the same time.) Both are easy to quit and not have many side effects from. And they are both pills that are considered safe to take during pregnancy. I suffer from depression, anxiety and panic attacks. It's all leveled off now, finally, and I'm not taking anything right now. BUT, my doc said I COULD take things that in no way would harm the baby. Prozac in fact is one of the safest.
Also, have you considered talking to a professional? There's such a stigma attached to it, but sometimes, we just need help, ya know. I had a bit of a breakdown (post partum depression that was made worse my post traumatic stress disorder from when my first husband passed away) and talking to a shrink REALLY helped me. She helped put my thoughts into perspective and helped me to not live "inside my own head" all the time.
I hope you get some relief from your depression. It's a difficult thing to go through. (And I hope my ticker doesn't offen anyone. I don' know how to shut it off.) Good luck!

Um I would call my ob/gyn if I decide that I want to talk medicine. One of the side effects of Lupron Depot is depression. I am just trying to decide what I want to do. He said that he would give me something if I decided I needed it. I would love not to but I just do not know right now what I want to do. I have been on Prozac, Cymbalta, and Zoloft before.

I think the other girls have given you some great advice. I think it is worth it to get treated, even if it's only for a few months. TTCAL and waiting for a little one is so hard and then add meds and depression on top of it, and it just becomes unbearable. I really hope you can figure out a plan of treatment so you can start feeling more like yourself

I am sorry that the drug has that side effect
I just started taking Wellbutrin a few days ago. So far I feel okay...not really sure exactly when I am supposed to really start seeing the effects. I have never taken antidepressants before.
I have heard it is one of the better ones though.
<3 *hugs* I hope you can find something that will help you.

I agree with the others on the Wellbutrin. I've taken at least half a dozen different antidepressants and that is the one that has worked the best. For me it has no horrible side effects. The only thing I noticed this time was it made me really tired so I just started taking it at night.
If you decide not to take anything I understand that too. How long have you been on the Lupron? I was a nut job for about a month and a half - two months. The Lupron is putting you into temporary menopause so your hormones are going crazy. I remember crying when someone said hello and then less than 5 minutes later being so mad I was ready to physically hurt some one. I guess what I'm trying to say is if it's just the Lupron doing it, it will get better. *hugs*

M/C can carry with it PPD and if you already have a history of depression you run a higher risk of PPD. You could pop down to the board down there and find out what those ladies might be doing to help them feel better. Not everyone takes meds to get through depression. I have taken different stuff over the years. I suffer with depression as well as PPD after pregnancy. If you are looking for something that isn't medicine related I found working out to be my biggest help. I felt so much better after a sweat session without the side effects of the meds. Its hard to get started and takes a few weeks to really start feeling better but if you are worried about meds it might help. Some ladies even do relaxation techniques like breathing and meditation. I hope you can get some help and start feeling better. I am sorry you are going through depression along with a loss. That makes it so much harder.
