Share your favorite few household tips!
Ya know those smelly loads of laundry like gym clothes, summertime outdoor clothes that you add the extra fabric softener to hoping to get the smells out? Here is a solution: Add a few tablespoons of vinegar to the washing machine before you put the clothes in. They come out smelling fresh and not like vinegar at all. With 4 guys in my house this has helped a lot!

Not exactly a tip but you know the Mr. clean erasers? They make some specific for kitchens. They work great at cleaning off stove tops. Better than the expensive ceramic cleaners!

LOL . . . I like the vinegar tip. I'm definitely going to have to try that . . . I'm the only girl in my house (if you don't count the dog) so if I can get out the stink without making the clothes smell perfumey that is a definite plus!
Tips from me . . . I learned that baby sunblock sticks can double duty as ink removers in leather sofas. My son decided to draw on the back of my sofa with a permanent marker. I thought it was ruined, but it came out easily without staining. I was completely amazed.
Another tip for carpet stains is to dab the stain with warm water and dish washing liquid, then place a towel over it and rub with a warm iron. The stain gets sucked right into the towel so don't use a good towel. Also don't get the iron too hot because it can burn the carpet. I had some mystery red stain (I'm guessing marker or kool-aid) that was in my carpet for a long time. I tried ever carpet cleaner in the store and then this and it sucked it right out. I did have to re-apply water/soap and iron several times, but each time more came up. It was amazing!

HAHA! Love that.
I really don't have anything either. Love the vinegar tip though...I might have to try that. Jeremy works outside a lot especially during the summer.

15 mins a day. You can do anything for 15 mins. So even if you just do some cleaning for 15 mins everything helps. I didn't used to think so but right now especially I don't have a lot of energy. So I just do 15 mins and be done. You can get a lot done in that time . I love flylady .

I love Magic Erasers, too, but here's a warning. DO NOT scrub kitchen flooring (vinyl) with one. I had to have a new floor put in after discovering this the hard way!

For stickers on glass use vegetable oil. Soak the item in oil for a couple minutes to remove the sticker easily.
Put a sheet of fabric softener underneath each seat in the car to make it smell nice. (easy to do & replace!) I buy a box of smelly ones for my car and go through maybe a box a year!
Use white toothpaste to polish silver jewelry. Use a soft brush. Rinse and dry.

This is one of my favorite tips and I learned it from working at a clothing store. If you use metal shower hooks on a metal rod, they can sometimes get that nails on a chalk board sound right...Take wax paper and rub it along the rod...your hooks will slide like it's brand new! I've had the same shower hooks since freshman year of college and lived in apartments so I was always hearing that icky sound! When I went to work at a retail dept. my manager handed me a piece of wax paper and said go clean the racks...I looked at her funny, but it worked at work and it works at home! I love it!

If you have a stainless steel cook top and get those little spots that won't come off easily- and you don't want to scratch the steel- use no fume oven cleaner. Spray on let it sit for an hour or so then everything just wipes away.
Cleaning a garbage disposal- best way is when you need to clean out your old ice- fill up the disposal with ice, and turn it on for a few minutes, run warm water through. gets all the ickies off the blades.

Hair spray usually gets ink off clothes. And Hydrogen Peroxide takes blood off clothes too.
Anyone have a tip to get stickers off hardwood flooring? I have a rowdy toddler that Daddy wasn't watching closely.

I love this thread! I had no idea that they made magic erasers especially for kitchens. I will have to look for those. I once asked my mom what on earth people ever did before magic erasers and her reply was "We repainted."
Oven cleaner will get a grease stain out of cotton.
I keep my grabage disposal fresh smelling my running lemon rinds through it every now and then.
