I have had several miscarriages about 9 to be exact in the last few years- I am 42 and can get pregnant- but always implant late and have a week beta and it fizzles- It just happened the past weekend- I was a day late took a test and it was barely positive- two days later I retested and it was almost gone but went to the dr anyway to get a blood drawn and there was still no period- and my beta was 179 w a 12 progesterone- shows you how wrong the sticks can be but I had no sore boobs and no symptoms so I knew it would not last- sure enough a few days later my beta was 129 and I have just fininshed my period- Why do I always implant late any advice on what test I should have the doctor run or hormone test or what I can do to implant earlier- I am soooo frustrated

I added my chart so you can see my ovulation dip day 13DPO and then the implantation dip around day 10 but by day 16 my beta was only 179 so I implant so late

Hello! You are going through almost the same thing I am going through. I am 41 years old. Dh and I were told we couldn't get pregnant on our own because I have PCOS. We have gotten pregnant twice on our own. This time ( I just miscarried on Firday) we made it the farthest along. We don't have a hard time getting pregnant we have a hard time staying pregnant. My doctor is going to run the clotting disorder testing and genetic testing on Dh and I to see if something is causing us to miscarry. The first pregnancy we had a IUI done we lost the baby at 7 weeks. The second miscarry my HCG never did rise like it was supposed to. This baby we made it to over 7 weeks. I hope your doctor can run some test and you get some answers.

Your progesterone level sounds low. My doctor looks for a 20+ with progesterone levels. Are you taking progesterone at all? I take 200 mg from 2 dpo to either AF or 9 weeks pregnant. I will be 42 in a few weeks as well.

Did the say anthing about your progestrone being so low????
My DR always said they want to see it over 15.

After 9 losses they have never ran testing on you???

I would get a New dr or start demanding answers.

I have the same problem- I can get pregnant but can't stay pregnant ( also 40)
I originally had a uterine cyst, which we removed. I have successfully gotten pregnant and carried my DS(using injectables and iui), but then had two more losses. My RE told me he thinks that only 40% of my eggs are viable. That most women over 40 it's around 50%, but most likely I have less.

At 42 and with 9 losses I would definitely demand some tests at the least, or go to a specialist who can really diagnose what is going on.
Good luck!

I agree with the other ladies. I would demand testing. And your progestrone does sound really low. I hope you can get some answers and if your doctor won't test find another doctor. HUGS!

I agree with the others. I'm surprised your doctor wouldn't automatically suggest getting some testing going for you.

I'm so sorry for your losses!

First, I am so sorry for your losses. As the other have said I would certainly pursue testing as there may be a fairly simple and treatable issue (perhaps a vitamin deficiency). I don't know if there is anything to do about when implantation actually happens but I can certainly relate in that with my losses (my first being the exception) my betas would never really seem to get off the ground. They would start very low then just double or not quite double. Then I would lose whatever minor symptoms I had and then the betas would head south. With my last pregnancy (successful) I tried herbs that are "supposed" to prevent miscarriage. The most notable difference for me was the fact that my betas had started out just like my losses and then once I started the herbs my number tripled. It could very well have been a fluke, unrelated, or coincidence but I think it is what made a difference for me. I share my whole story on my blog if you are interested.

Again, I am so sorry for your losses and I hope you are able to get some answers soon.

Thanks for all the replys ladies- yes I was with a fertility specialist for 2 years and after 2 ectopics and 6 miscarriages and a bunch of blood test for miscarriages he said there was nothing more he could do- so I gave up and decided to take soy on my own and got pregnant this time and just went to see my OBGYN who I go to Thurdsday for an exam and hopefully my last beta has dropped to 0 as I just finished my period- I am going to see if he will run a miscarriage work up and get his opionion.

That is an awesome FSH! So I would go back and ask about the progesterone. If you implant late and are taking it after ovulation it will delay your cycle enough to hopefully give that bean a chance to bury in!
