So I passed the baby Thursday, had really heavy bleeding with some clots Fri & Sat.
Sunday my bleeding went down to a period/light period at times.
Last night before I went to bed I started getting cramps & presure. When I sit to pee and when I try to relax it hurts or if I try to push it hurts real bad.
So this morning my bleeding picked back up to heavy and then about an hour after I got up I passed a huge clot. The rest of the day today I have been pretty crampy and passing clots.
My questions is... have any of you had the bleeding slow way down and then start back up like this again?
I dont want to keep buggin the DR because I am sure they are just going to tell me please come in... that will be another $35.oo please. I am going to my OB Thursday for a "follow up" any way.

My 2nd m/c was like that. Before my d&c I bled off and on very ligthly. AFter the d&c I bled for about two days not too heavy and then had a scary few hours on the 3rd day where (tmi) it was like I was peeing blood everytime I went to the bathroom and filling pads left and right and had huge clots at times. After about 5 hours it lightened up and then over the next couple weeks it went from heavy to light off and on but never as heavy as that scary 5 hours I had. After all my prenancies I've bled for extended periods and go back and forth from heavy to light.

WOW you bleed like that after a D&C. My last D&C I only had bleeding that afternoon then spotting for the next couple days.
I am trying to avoid a D&C thats why I had waitied to long (5 weeks after the baby passed)
I am just praying this bleeding is not an indicator things are not right and I need one anyway cause that is the last thing I wanted.

It's normal for tit to lessen and then pick up. Best rule I've been told is if you are filling a pad an hour or pass a clot larger than an egg go to the ER.
I really opes this all ends for you soon!

When I m/c I bled like a heavy period for about 4 days then it stopped and started up again a few days after and I bled/passed clots for another couple of days. I agree that if you are bleeding through a pad an hour and passing large clots, definitely go to the ER!

I agree with Sam! I hope this is just the left over tissue coming out and it means you won't need the D&C!

That happened to me, my bleeding stopped for 2 weeks and then picked up again and I bled like crazy and had lots of clots. It was due to retained tissue, but I had a D&C and not a natural m/c. I hope you get this figured out soon!

The bleeding is not really that bad its just that it was almost gone then a clot came like it was blocking the bleeding?
It slowed way down again tonight but I have lost of presure and cramping. It almost feels like constipation but on the front side... if that makes since?

It could definitly still be retained tissue...my body worked so hard to get a 1cm piece out, when they took all my clots out (when they still didn't know I had retained tissue but I was bleedling like from a sci fi movie!) DH said there were a BUNCH of small apple size clots and a HUGE grapefruit size one...Dr said it was my body working to get the piece out but the wierd thing was I didn't have any cramping! I think the cramping and pressure (while it sucks) is a good sign. I hope you feel better soon

It really sounds like your body is trying to pass more tissue so I would expect more clots. (((HUGS)))

Yes I have as well as having a miscarriage bleeding last 60 days... yes, you read that right 6-0 days. It can be different for each one, no one is the same if you've had more than one... It can last for days or weeks, picking up slowing down... your body is working to expel everything and it sounds like from what you're saying there's still tissue in there which is why you're cramping/contracting.
Instead of going in, call the nurse triage instead... they can help you with questions as well and save you a co-pay.

Last week before I had the miscarriage I called in Cytotec and then the nurse said we will need to see you in 1 week for a ultrasound to make sure everything passed. My comment to her was "wont I still be bleeing?" and she said "You should not be bleeding a week later" So that is why I am strarting to freak out. Cause I think I have until Thursday to get it all out or he will recomend a D&C.
From my experiance 1 week is not enough time I will be at least spotting Thursday. But because I choose to wait it out I think they are starting to get worried about infection setting in.

My doctor was freaking out about retained tissue too and ordering U/Ss left and right. Eventually, I agreed to take medicine to forestall the D&C (I didn't want to have one because they freak me out). Then I switched doctors. I need to go track down what he said. I bled for a total of about 6 weeks on an off.

When I was told that pumpkin passed away on Friday my ob's office told me they would only give me 2 weeks to try to pass the baby on my own. I am shocked your doctor's office let you go so long.
I hope you don't end up having to have a d&c after all what you have been through all ready.

Ok, I found it. What a pain. I had to go back to page 30 or something like that.
Here was my ranty post (RANT - The Neverending Cycle (UPDATED first post))
Here is what my doctor said:
Quote:
Because you didn't have a D&C, it is not uncommon to have spotting for several weeks before your first real period. The heavier bleeding that you're having now (note: which is still lighter than my normal period) is hormonally your first period after the miscarriage. Continue to watch for a week or two, if you're comfortable with that, and if the spotting doesn't stop, then we'll bring you in for a fluid ultrasound (which is different than a normal one) to see if there's any retained tissue.
There is no way you'll start hemorrhaging because there simply isn't enough of anything in there to cause that. After we do the fluid ultrasound, if we find anything, then we can discuss whether you want to remove it or see if your body expels it during the next period. The human body really is amazing and it does a great job of self correcting without doctors interfering.
|
I ended up bleeding for a week and a half after that post and then I went back to a normal-ish cycle (different than before). So, all told, I started bleeding on 12/4 and didn't stop 100% until 2/11. I had two stretches of two weeks off, I think, but it's hard to remember. I used too many codes in the calendar that I have. I forgot what they all mean. haha
I hope it ends for you soon and without a D&C.

So far this morning its just been this brown crap like at the end of a period. So I think it could be ending? The cramps are also gone too.
I am not sure what else can be retained since everything pretty much came out in whole when I passed the baby.
I REALLY like my DR if I could by pass the nurses and just call in a talk to him things would be better. But they dont let you call in and talk to the nurses you have to get the middle man answer.
My last DR had awsome office staff but the DR SUCKED. He made my delivery of my daughter the most tramic experiance and all he was worried about the whole time was that he promised his wife he would be home in time for there dinner date. He was always in and out during office visits so quick I never had time to ask questions.
So once I get into the this new DR I am happy and get the right answers its just the office staff that I am not happy with. But my whole goal in the end is to have a great delivery the way I want so I have to deal with all this crap until I get there.
I would rather have a caring DR than the better office staff.

yeah thats why I have to come in Thursday he gave me a month and tomorrow will be a month. My cervix has been open for over a month now and he wants to make sure no infection is setting in and my last check was 2 weeks ago.

But how long did you wait before you passed the baby after is passed away? That is what he is really worried about. The baby passed away about Feb 14th... we are now inching closer to April.... and my cervix has been open the whole time. His main concern is just infection.
My last natural miscarriage happen fast and was a lot earlier I spotted for a week bleed for a good 4-6 days then spotted another week.
So i am expecting to at least be spotting for another week or so.
Who knows what the nurse ment by I should not still be bleeding. Thats why I hate calling in and asking the Nurse for stuff cause all they do is confuse me until I see the DR.
If they would just let me talk to him I could avoid all this but its all about that Co pay and like you said before malpractice.

Lindsey could you call in and talk to the nurse and tell her you need the doctor to call you back? I know my nurses get PO'd but I've done that several times and if the doctor doesn't call you back with-in an hour call again. Being pushy sometimes is the only want to get their attention.

They said mine was open too, so I had to be on pelvic rest (no sex) until I stopped bleeding and my hcg was zero. The baby was alive at my 8 week US and then by nine weeks, it was no longer alive. I passed it a couple of days after that. Really sorry you're dealing with this still.
I am not trying to say your situation is just like mine, but my gut told me that my first doctor was being insane and paranoid. I was avoiding the D&C for an entirely different reason. I had a strong feeling that if I had one, it would mess me up.
So, I listened to my instincts and made a change to a new doctor.
Most of the time, I knew there was nothing wrong until I went to see Dr. Chicken Little and she would freak me out for about an hour. Then when I calmed down, I knew she was just being overcautious. I don't know what your gut tells you, but if you're usually an instinctual person, you'll know when something is wrong with you.
Anyway, take it for what it's worth.

The thing is the DR never tells me I need a follow up I will call in and ask questions then the nurse will say well we need to see you.
I am thinking about canceling my appt.
HE never said anything to me about a follow up
because at my last appt I said well hope to see you this summer if I get pregnant and he never said a word about needing a follow up. Just said call if you need anything during this time.
I just dont want to piss him off so when I really need him he wont be there.
This group of DRs and Midwives is highly recomended around here the main DR is even on the birthing center board at the hospital. I have done a lot of reasearch on the DR's & Hospitals after my daughters nasty birth.
I guess i will just go cause it will drive me nuts if I dont wondering. They have me down for a ultrasound visit. But if they tell me to come back for another check I am telling them to F- OFF.
I am not going back until I am pregnant or really have a issue.
