I am not sure if I am in the right place or not but I have a question about HCG and positive pregnancy test ...

I miscarried 30 days ago bleeding took 7 days so it ended approximately 21 days ago

My fertility doctor told me to start Provera if no cycle 30 days from start of miscarriage

I have always been told to test before starting the Provera and anticipating to start it tomorrow I just tested and it's positive, so my thought is surely I still have left over HCG right?

My baby stopped growing at 6 weeks, did 1 round of the "abortion" pill at 8 weeks did not work did a second round at about 10-11 weeks and it worked so baby died 6 wks but took much longer to pass do not know if that factors in to anything or not.

Thank you!

It is hard to say. I would certainly call your doctor and have them run betas. It is possible that you have HCG left in your system but no more likely than the possibility of having another pregnancy too. Sorry not a real clear answer but I wouldn't take the provera until you have some tests run to clarify. Good luck to you.

I agree with Maria, go and get your betas done just to be on the safe side. At this point it could go either way.

How many weeks has it been since you acually had the misscarriage where the baby left your body?

My baby passed away at 8 weeks but I carried it untill 13 and just passed it a couple days ago. same as you took 2 rounds of Cytotec to work.
I dont expect my HCG to return to normal for 2-4 more weeks and no period for 6-8 weeks.

Not sure why I was having a hard time following your post (tired maybe) but Hope I answered right.

OH and your miscarriage might not have been complete... did they check you after your bleeding stopped?

My situation is a little different since I had a D&C and a possible molar pregnancy but I had the procedure on Jan 27 and my HCG came down to 7 just two weeks ago.

It probably takes a month or so for things to get back to normal. I would check with my doctor just to make sure before taking anything.

My baby passed at 6w 4d and a little over a week later I had a d&c which was on dec 22nd (a feww years ago) I tested positive a little over a month later on a pg test and it was left over hcg. I just wanted to throw that out there, my levels were up to 90,000+ when I had my d&c.

You probably need to have two done to see if they are going up or down. Just one test won't be very helpful.

I agree! Have them run a test and then another one 48 hours later to see what they are doing.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your in put. I am having a beta drawl tomorrow. I am almost certain that it is left over HCG, but I have just a tiny grain of hope LOL I tested again today still positive and the test is darker.... but I know that all depends on the concentration of the "wee" lol
