So I found out Feb 23rd baby has passed away the week before.... I carried it until March 17th.
Every Wednesday I have been taking HPT just to see if its dipping. Well today it was start white.
That was a very fast fall.
So did my levels probably start falling over a month ago and with the baby out they just dropped like a rock?
So this should mean everything is cleared out and I should not need a D&C right???

I was not expecting A/F for 6-8 weeks but maybe this means she will come sooner since my HCG is almost to zero or is zero?

For some reason my OB was not watching my levels

Given your frustrations with them the other day and how they are handling your loss, maybe you should look for another doctor. It seems like making sure you get to zero would at least be on their radar.

I do agree the doctors should at least be following your levels but it does sound like they dropped quick. They probably started dropping awhile ago and are just now at zero.

None of my OB's have ever watched my numbers drop.
This one is monitoring me by ultrasound instead.
I might ask tomorrow if he will do a draw to see if they really are all the way down.

Every time I go in there I pitch a fit about how much everything costs so I think he is trying to keep money down. Because we had this conversation that if I keep racking up the bills I will just have to give my dream of antoher baby up.
BUT all my blood work is 100% covered.

I know my doctors have always monitored my HCG dropping. But maybe yours has a reason not to. Still crossing my fingers that tomorrow goes well for you

Is there a reason they should be watching it fall? Just not sure why or why not? LOL

Idk mine always watched to make sure it was falling how it should be. If it doesn't go down that can be a sign of retained tissue or another issue I believe.

Hmmmm....I always wondered about watching levels too. My Dr. never did draws for HCG (preggo or with the loss), but she did check with ultrasound and said everything was clear.

If everything is clear Lindsey, you shouldn't need a D&C.

I hope AF comes quick then you can work on your sticky BFP!

I actually had an U/S and had my levels monitored. I was told that the HCG levels should be at zero to make sure that all of the reminents from the miscarriage are free and clear. (maybe I heard it wrong... but it made sense at the time...)

My levels were monitored also, just to make sure (after the D&C only). From what I was told it also was an indicator of retained tissue.

With my first loss the doctor really watched my levels until they were down to zero. Although I also had that infection from the d&c. With the loss in Dec my ob now watched my levels. This time he didn't say anything about watching my levels. Reading your post you gave me an idea. I am going start taking a test once a week. My veins are so bad they have a hard time getting blood anymore. I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. I will be looking for an update.

My levels were not monitored. I had a natural miscarriage at home and then had a U/S that showed that everything had been passed.

As I understand it, watching the levels is to make sure there isn't retained tissue. I've been told that retained tissue can lead to an infection so they want to make sure it's all gone or else they'd want to do a D & C.

Well it all basically boils down to the fact that we are not doctors and have no way of knowing if everything is passed. If any of us says yes and you believe us when it's not actually true, then you could be putting your health at risk.

If knowing for sure whether you've gotten down to zero and have passed everything is an important thing to find out, then the only thing that can answer your question is a blood test and an ultrasound.

Most of us have been on here long enough to know that no two miscarriages are the same from person to person or even from loss to loss in the same person. We could relate everything we've been through from now until our fingers fall off (from typing) and it'll still just be speculation.

So, my advice is to wait it out and see what happens if you're not too concerned, or if you're not comfortable waiting, go back to the doctor that annoys you and get tested again at some point.

I was gonna write this. And since they're doing an ultrasound to rule out retained tissue I can't think of another reason to take a beta draw. While they're doing the u/s you might as well ask them to take a look at your ovaries to see if there are any follies developing if you're curious about that. Good luck!

My understanding has been that watching betas down to zero is to rule out retained tissue, molar pregnancy or ensuring that it isn't ectopic (ectopic pregnancies have a unique beta pattern).

Ok so doing the ultrasound tomorrow would answer that.
BUT I started bleeding again this afternoon UGH.. I called in and they still want to see me.
I was supposed to have everything passed by about the end of this week or I would need a D&C.
Guess we will see what they say. I just hope HE really wanted me to come in and its just not another nurse telling me I need to and wasting my CO Pays

I LOVE the DR its the freakin staff thats agrivating me. Like my appointment yesterday where a nurse told me to come in ASAP becaue my labs were bad and the DR asked why I was there because they are all normal and look great. SO I got my Co pay back and found out that nurse is in some deep ****.

So If I can just get passed the rules of having to talk to the nurses or receptionists and go right to the DR's I would be GREAT.

I am getting ultrasound tomorrow so that should answer all the quesitons of if anything is still left.
