You ladies have been more than helpful to my nerves over the past few days.

--I have had + tests for 3 days now (included OPKs yes I have a pee problem) and just miscarried a little over a month ago....my DR was NOT following my beta down, but today they did do a beta currently waiting on the results
(the only reason I tested was that I was about to start Provera and it's protocol to test before starting)

I am 99.5% positive this HAS to be left over HCG but that other .5% has me so curious

My question is:

they say that the HCG leaving the body after miscarriage is determined by how far along you were with the pregnancy, for me my baby never had a heart beat was considered dead at 6wk, however did not begin the miscarriage til about 11/12wks

(At 5wks 3days beta was 8000ish
At 6wks beta was 13,000ish
so they did not double)

so... between the time I was 6wks with a 13,00ish beta up until the miscarriage at 11/12wks would the beta increased any? Would I have had the beta of a 12wk pregnancy? I wouldn't think so b/c they say low betas or betas that diminish indicated a possible miscarriage?!?

to me it seems that with only a low beta of 13,000ish at 6wks the HCG likely would not take very long to exit my system?

I would love to hear just honest opinions, personal stories, & etc.

I am sure many of you understand the anxiety involved LOL

Thank you so much!!

just for fun here are my pee stick I keep thinking they will get lighter and of course they do when the "wee" is weak but then they get darker too ayi yi yi!

My hcg level was ~8,000 on 12/8 and I didn't get down to zero until 1/10 or so. I can find out for sure if I search my posts. It took forever to get rid of the last 70.

Ok, the best I can find was a post by me on 1/17 where I said:

A week apart each, my numbers went: 8000, 900, 270, 150 (2 days after 270), 19, 7, 0.

It depends on your body in my opinion. I got to 13 weeks last October before finding out that my baby had died the day before at 12w6d. He was fully formed and looked normal. I have no idea what my hcg was when I miscarried, but two weeks later at my follow up for my d&c it was only 48. So honestly...it can come down that fast and this might be a new pregnancy for you....I think your gonna just have to wait until you get your numbers and if they're high enough or if they test again and they dont fall but climb instead then you will surely have an ultrasound and then have some answers. I hope for the best for you!

That doesn't seem to terribly slow so you were tested over a 4 week period?
I am a little ticked my dr did not monitor the HcG out of my system and I see a durn fertility specialist!

Thanks dreamer10 I know it is different for each person, I have heard people having it down to 0 within 2 days of miscarriage and then people still having some 6 weeks later.... I really don't have hopeful expectations but tomorrow I get the first result back tomorrow

I agree with Julie about everyone being different. My loss was a missed miscarriage as well- baby had stopped growing around 9 weeks, but we didn't find out and have the D&C until 12 weeks. 6 weeks later, I was still getting positive pregnancy tests from leftover HCG, and my levels weren't down to negative levels until 11 weeks after my D&C. Really it could go either way. KUP!

Agree it depends on the woman. After my D&C my levels were down to 0, 3 weeks later. Baby had always measured behind and I was positive on my dates ( with the doctors dates I got a +hpt before conception.) so by my dates I was 9 1/2 weeks when the baby died.

It got my HCG tested 10weeks after my D&C and I was at 12 and a week later I was at 7. I am still waiting for my results from last week (my doc is on vacation).

My levels took about 4 weeks to drop below 5 (which is considered non-pregnant levels) after my 2nd D&C. They went something like 200, 43, 38, 4. The first 3 were each a week apart and the 38-4 was about 11 days between blood draws. Good luck!
