It apparently can cause reccurent m/c too
so now we get to go to another specialist to figure this out.

Someone in PAL mentioned that her husband had it. I don't know what she did that helped them get pregnant and stay pregnant.

ive looked it up online and they said even with IVF with chromosone testing, there is only a 68% chance of having a baby... so im guessing without there is a way less chance.
Its kind of depressing.

Talk to Stargatemommy she is the host of PAL and her husband has it and her son that is about to be born will have it. She may have more information for you. She had 9 losses before they found the problem. So sorry you are going through this.

Hey! Jessi PMed me about your situation. Balanced translocations are the pits. Sorry you have to deal with this.
Every situation with balanced translocation is different. The best thing you can do is speak to a genetic counselor.... They can tell you the specific statistics involving the chromosomes affected. Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis can be quite effective if that is your only issue, it just cost TONS, like twice the amount of regular IVF! The genetic counselor determined that our risk of miscarriage was only about 31%, but that our risk of having severely disabled children was quite high. It really depends on the chromosomes affected.
Having a balanced translocation really isn't a "death sentence" so to speak. With any translocation if you keep trying you WILL eventually get a sticky pregnancy, it may just be a long sucky journey. We tried over 6 years and had 10 losses before for getting the little miracle we are expecting any day now.
Do you know which chromosomes are affected? My DH (and our soon to be son) has a BT in chromosomes 1 and 20.
If you have any questions or just need someone to listen to you, I am here. You can PM me anytime!

Oof, I'm sorry. I'm glad Stargatemommy could drop by and give you some advice, 'cause I've never even heard of it. I hope you have one of the "easier" fixes and can just do one round of that more-expensive IVF and then have your sticky bean. Staying positive for you, keep us updated on the docs' findings <3
