I am not sure if you know this but vitamin D can actually help in getting pregnant. Here is a link to an article that explains the benefits: Get Pregnant Fast With This Fertility Vitamin

That is interesting. We TTC for over 4 years with no luck. DH started taking Vitamin D this past summer for something else and we got PG this past January.....wonder if that has anything to do with it....

I started taking vitamin D in January, because of an article I saw on TTCMA. We don't get a whole lot of sun in the winter, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Even if it doesn't help with fertility it helps keep colds and infections away, so it's a win win in my book.

You have to be careful with vitamin D. It is fat soluble, which means your body will store it up and taking too much can be toxic. Instead of taking vitamin D willy nilly, get a blood test to see if your levels are low. If they are normal, then you shouldn't be taking it.
I am vitamin D deficient, so I have to take it every day.

I found out through my primary care doctor that my vitimin D level was low so I asked my OB about it. She said that it isn't good to take high levels during pregnancy. She just switched me to a prenatal that had some in it. She also suggested spending time in the sun, ten minutes is all you need.

The intake of Vitamin D is based on the prescribed amount from the doctor. But even with sun it can be harmful in other ways as well. You surely get your natural Vitamin D but if you are sensitive to the rays from the sun that does not always work either.
There are listings of what the recommended daily intake is listed in this document: Dietary Supplement Fact Sheet: Vitamin D

I'm just saying this is one of those things that people shouldn't just run out and buy and start chugging like crazy.

Hi, I normally lurk but I thought I would share my experience. I have not had my vitamin D level tested; however, I spend very little time in the sun. I read the same article and thought I would try it. I took the dosage recommended on the bottle along with one baby aspirin each day in March and I got pregnant. Not sure it it was the vitamin D, aspirin, both or neither but thought I would share anyway.

I will have to read this when I get home very interesting. My family DR did a physical on me last year and I was very low on this. So I have to take 2000mg a day just to get my levels to 28 (I guess they want you at 30).
I have been taking it now for about 6 months so hope it helps out this cycle.

I completely understand your concern about that. I also just want to recommend again that you follow your doctor's advice and if recommended take it in moderation and lower dosage when you know you are pregnant.

When I was tested, I was at 12 or 14. I think 30 something is normal, like someone above said. They had me taking prescription Vitamin D for three months then had me tested again. Then they had me taking 2000 IU a day.
