I have been seeing the same OBGYN for about 2 years, in the last 9 months I have had 3 miscarriages. This week she told me that even though the clinics website states OBGYN an Infertility Specialist she actually only does the basics and at this point she is at a loss with me. I just made an appointment with a RE in two weeks. I am hoping for the best....I know many of you have seen RE's so can you tell me if there really is a difference between them and an OBGYN? Have you had better results with an RE?
I do not know the exact difference other than the RE goes into more depth into what would be the cause and then find the right solution to get pregnant and stay pregnant till term.
I hope your RE appointment goes well.

My OB-GYN specializes in infertility so I'm comfortable with her. I know many of the ladies here have had great success with RE's. Good luck with the RE and I hope things go well for you

I loved that MY RE and office staff knew exactly what to do when I had a BFP. The RE knew what test to run before hand, what supplements to order, and followed my HCG up and down and THEY called ME with the results. For me this was a huge difference. I was always calling the OB's office trying to get results and info and the RE's staff called me. It was wonderful. The other thing that I loved about my RE was that he knew how to explain the test results to me. The OB knew if it was an issue or not but couldn't go into much detail other than handing me folic acid and baby aspirin. So my vote is for an RE hands down. Good luck to you!

For me there was a HUGE difference, but I also switched OB's because I wasn't happy with their quality of care for my recurrent losses and difficulty conceiving this time. I agree with Missy. You get information overload, but it's so worth it!

Going to an RE was such an amazing change from my OB/GYN. The RE was really an expert on both getting pregnant and on early pregnancy- I am so glad we made the jump to an RE. I hope you have a great appointment

Thanks everyone....I got an appointment with an RE for April 28th, could have gone sooner but wanted to wait for Ryans karotyping results. I am trying to be hopeful and for some reason feel like it is going to happen for us, but I just keep worrying that I am just getting too old......
