We have 3 cats and have cat hair all over the place it seems. How do you control the pet hair in your house?

I bought a special brush and was brushing them everyday but that just made them mad and did not help with the problem at all.

We put a blanket on the couch and wash it every couple of days and dry the blanket which takes the pet hair off. I also got a vacuum cleaner with a pet brush on it that helps a lot.

Missy, I was using the pledge pet hair remover which helped to remove the cat hair when I had cats.

We have wood floors, this helps a lot. They end up bunching up into tumbleweeds.

Good to know. We are planning on getting wood floor put in.

When we were in an apartment with all carpets, it was impossible to get everything up. I love the wood floors everywhere. The only place where we have carpet is on the stairs, so no one will slip (including the dogs) and at the end of the bed, so that the dogs don't slip jumping down (one of my other dogs tore her ACL because of slipping this way).

I have two cats and a dog, I can't stand the hair! I vacuum every day, and we also got a microfiber cough which I can just get a wet paper towels and wipe and it all comes right off! But for the rugs, I'm still trying to figure that out. Ditto to what Courtney said, we have wood everywhere except the bedrooms and it is so much easier to keep up with the hair there.

I live in an apartment and we have all carpets... It sucks! I love the hardwood floors, prettier and so much easier to keep clean.

I never heard of pledge pet hair remover - I am going to get some, thanks!

I love my cats very much but the hair really drives me insane and I am a slob. I can only imagine what it does for neat folks.

I'm OCD and vacuum the hardwood floor every evening. Like Courtney said it's easy to take care of with that.

Furniture wise the lab is not allowed on the couch because it's white and her black fur really shows on it but I bought a black bed sheet on our bed and she loves laying with mommy

I feel your pain! We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. Hair is everywhere! I can't control how much they shed but I have the Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner that is supposed to be good for pet hair. It works great and I also like it because it's purple. I have been known to threaten them all that I'm going to shave them though.

I heard those Dyson machines are awesome and worth the money. I have a pet vacuum but with the way we use the vacuum it seems we are buying a new one every year.

I highly recommend it! It's great too because you don't need to keep buying bags and the hose reaches something like 17 feet so it's really convenient for cleaning all kinds of spaces where pet hair and other things can hide. I have had mine for 5 or 6 years and haven't had any issues. I've never had a vacuum cleaner last that long with so much of a work load. It is definitely worth the money!

We moved from a house with light colored carpet to a house with dark carpet in one room and in that one room my furbaby's white hair really shows up. Luckily we have wood floors in most of the house. But that one room drives me crazy. I'm already thinking about getting some special attachments for the central vac. All I know to do is vacuum vacuum vacuum.

Nothing beats the Dyson Animal. We have a golden retriever who sheds like she's trying to go bald and I vacuum ALL THE TIME. We have a mix of carpet and tile and I just vacuum it all. I cannot fathom how you ladies with a houseful of pets manage to keep up!

I just gave up caring about the pet hair. We just vacuum about once a week, with a special vacuum session if we're about to have company over. We have carpet too, and I can't WAIT to get a house and have hardwood floors!

I happened to see this ad on tv last night and thought of this thread. I don't know if it works but the ad cracked me up. I love how over-exaggerated people (and apparently pets) can be on these As Seen on TV ads. ShedPal
