I hope it is ok to write here.
I went in for an U/S today, I was 8weeks6days...baby measured 9 weeks but there was no heartbeat. Its messing with my head that something must have happened in the last day or maybe even today...I just dont know.
I have my son all day every day, and I cant just let it happen naturally...thats also messing with my head a lot, to just wait...
So, the OB wants me to take misoprostol vaginally (and she prescribed percocet also)...
I'm pretty concerned as to how this is going to go...
I have my husband getting the pills now, and he can stay home with me tomorrow, so I was going to take them now...
But, I'm worried about blood loss...I'm anemic to begin with, and I have yet to have a PP-AF since having my son a year ago, so I know that there is a ton of stuff in there...I haven't eaten since breakfast, and am having a hard time even thinking about eating right now (I dont eat when I'm stressed, and this is much more than stress)...I'm worried about safety...
Do you have any tips, are the success rates for getting everything out high, how long do you bleed for...how long until you can physically feel normal?
thanks.

Hugs I am so sorry your having to go through this. I have either had a D&C or m/c naturally so I have no helpful tips on that. However I know most of the ladies times have varied on how long the meds helped. I hope someone else can give you more info. We are here for you.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I have never taken it, I always had D&C's. I know some of the girls here have taken it and I am sure they will be along soon to answer your questions. Again, I am so sorry.

I saw your post in the DDC. So very sorry Most of my losses were with D&Cs, so I've never had any experience with it either...but wanted to let you know that I"m thinking about you and I'm truly sorry and sad that you're going through this.
Like Katie said...we're all here for you. This board is wonderfully supportive, even in your darkest, saddest moments...someone will always listen and give you a hug.
Keep us posted on how you're doing if you're up to it.

I dont want to put bad hope in your mind... but did you get a second opinion? My Dr office always had my go and have someone re check it or I waited a week and came back for a second. But my babies always measured about a week or more small so I knew they were gone.
I took misoprostol orally. My Dr said its less violent reaction that way, but it was still pretty bad. It put me into full blown labor and I passed the sac intact with the baby still inside with in 2 hours of taking it (the second time). My baby measured 8w5d at my 10 weeks check up and after 2 attemps with the Miso I finally passed it in the 13th week with 800mg of the drug.
Good luck and I hope eveything goes smooth. A D&C was a lot easier on me but my Dr warned that repeated D&C's can cause more harm than good. Also D&C would have been $3500 after insurance here.
Also have you thought about waiting it out to see if your body will do it naturally? I know some people just cant wait and it is hard.

I went and re read and your concerns are the same as mine were... I have a 3yr old and home alone with her. My DH took the next day off work and I sent my 3yr old to my parents for the weekend because I read it can take up to 72 hours for the drug to work... well it never worked. 2 weeks later I got a higer dose and it finally worked but I started bleeding a couple days before so I think it was happening on its own.
How close does your DH work from home? Can he just leave if you need him? In most cases you will spot for a couple hours to days before the miscarriage happens so if hubby is close enough you can call him to get home.
Its a very hard and personal choice to wait, take the pills, or get a D&C.
I am so sorry you have to go through this and here to talk if you need anything.

DH is home today and tomorrow, and then its the weekend...I just took the first dose...mentally, I just cant deal with a dead baby being inside of me...
I could only fit 3 pills on the tampon, so I put three in instead of four...it is just completely messing with my head because I have no cramping/spotting/bleeding/nothing...it would be so much easier if there was something...
Am taking a percocet in about an hour...
The OB said that this was less invasive than a D&C...I do trust her...
As for the baby...the U/S tech was one I had with Kaiden, we'd already seen the heartbeat 3 times on U/S...it was very obvious that there was no heartbeat, she tried to zoom in the get the beat on the doppler part of the U/S, and there was nothing (2 weeks ago, we'd seen that at 7 weeks)...
I know the baby is gone, but actually putting something in my body to get rid of it...and knowing that the baby will be in my toilet is something that I'm having a very very hard time with right now...

I'm so sorry you're going through this With my loss, I had a D&C, so I don't have any advice on the misoprostol. I just wanted to say that we are here for you as you go through this. I remember after finding out our little one was gone, I barely ate a thing for over a week and I could barely sleep. It is so devastating. I wish you weren't going through this

Re-reading your post, I think the OB was trying to do me a favor with the pills, cause I have no maternity insurance...and $30 for the pills is a lot cheaper...
feeling nothing yet though...

I am so sorry for you loss. I don't have anything offer when it comes to Misoprostol. I had d&c for two of my losses and m/s on my own with one. I hope everything goes ok.
Like other one's have said we are here for you. If you need someone to talk to or to just vent we are here.

Hi There,
Just lurking and wanted to share that I took Cytotec (Misoprostol) with my loss last June. I took 4 pills vaginally and was prescribed Vicodin as well. I took them on a saturday morning (DH was home and we had confirmed no HB on our 8 week baby the day before) and it took about 12 hours. I started with mild cramping and then could not get comfortable (felt like a mild labor) and passed the baby in the toilet around 11 pm that night. Like you, I just wanted to get it over with and couldn't bear the thought of waiting weeks for the baby to pass on it's own.
I found this site very helpful:
Hope and a Future: My Experience with a Cytotec (Misoprostol) Miscarriage
I am very sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I just wanted to say that I am so, so sorry you are having to go through this. I had a natural m/c and I was devestated by the idea that my baby was going to be flushed down the toilet. There is nothing I can say to comfort you, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so very sorry that you're going through this! 2 of my losses were natural and 1 was a D&C so I have no experience with the pills. I know with my 2 natural losses it was very difficult for me to wrap my mind around the fact that I would pass the babies in the toilet. Again, I'm so very sorry that you have to go through this. I wish you all the peace and healing in the world.

It didnt work...I've now taken three doses of 800mg, with the first one, nothing seemed to happen, with the second, it seemed like it was starting, and it hurt really bad - for about an hour...then it slowed down so I took a third dose, and now there is nothing happening...its just dripping out...
I tried to call the OB but they are closed because of Easter, and I dont know if I should take the 4th dose or not (there were only 4 doses)...
With my son, I wouldnt go in labor on my own, pitocin was ramped up to the highest setting, and still no contractions until finally my water broke and then everything happened...I am beginning to feel like this is not going to happen on its own either...
And now I really dont know what to do cause my husband is taking today off of work (and then the weekend)...but he cant take next week off also...just want this over with

I have heard it can take up to 72 hours for it to work, but it did not work for me so I waited almost 3 weeks later and tried it again. If that last time did not work I was going to an abortion clinic where the cost was $700 vs $3500 (with out insurance its $14,000 here).
My DR told me this is stronger than Pitocin.
I am so sorry it did not happen right away... but if you are already bleeding/spotting it may be starting. Unless the dripping you are talking about is the meds?
I know this may be hard to hear but if you have no insurance not sure where you live but you can go to an abortion clinic and have a D&C done for cheap compaired to the hospital. I had called one here and had a consult all set up but ended up passing the baby the night before. They were going to put me in a private waiting area so I would not have to see the ladies there for other reasons.
I am so sorry this is such a hard thing to go through. I ended up carrying my baby for 5 weeks after it passed away.

I'm so sorry. I took misoprostol too, when I was almost 9 weeks like you, but my sac was empty. I thought it worked but then found out it hadn't and had to go for a D&C. That didn't work either but that's another story...
I only took 1 dose of 800 vaginally.
I saw you inserted them with a tampon. Are you sure you got it all the way up by your cervix that way? If you take the next dose I suggest inserting it with your fingers. I'm really sorry
