I started spotting red on April 5 and it was consistant until April 10 when I passed the baby. I had a lot of cramping April 10 and that is when I started bleeding heavy.

I am trying to see when my CD1 would have been so I know when I can be expecting AF so we can start trying again.

What do you think...when I started spotting (April 5) or when I passed the baby (April 10)?

ETA: If it helps, my beta was still rising on April 6. I went to the dr because of the spotting and it was still going up then. When I had another beta on April 11 (the day after I lost the baby) it had gone down quite a bit.

Hugs! I am sorry your going through this. Usually you go with the day you passed the baby as CD1. Once your numbers reach zero your body will gear up and ovulate and then you should expect AF 14 days after that if your not trying. If you plan on trying this cycle then I would start using OPK's once your levels reach zero (I'm not sure if your doctor is doing a repeat beta or not). Hope that helps and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

I'm so sorry for your loss Katie gave you great advice. I would also count CD1 as the day you passed the baby. Don't be surprised if you have an unusual cycle or two.

I'm really sorry
In the big scheme of things it doesn't matter which day to be CD1, since you'll probably O later than in your other regular cycles, but yes you would pick the day you passed the baby (so long as all the tissue, etc was passed). You can expect to O later so your first AF won't come on schedule. I'm sorry again

Thanks ladies! I am not trying this month, but I just wanted to see if my body was still regular or if everything is messed up now.

I was going through this myself and am doing the following.... After loss your hcg/Betas are still high... Once your Betas gets back down to Zero then usually about 2 weeks AF should show... I would then count this as CD1....
Correct me if I'm wrong ladies......

It's hard to say what your body will do after the loss because everyone is different. But *usually* after your levels drop to zero your body gears up and O's and then AF comes around 14 days later. Sometimes your body forgets to restart itself and you have to take meds to bring on AF (I had this with my first loss).

FYI you can ovulate before your hcg levels get back to zero. It's progesterone that suppreses ovulation (once ovulation has already happened or you get pregnant), not hcg. Also it can take the other hormones that cause ovulation time to kick in after a miscarriage and that's why ovulation happens later, not because of hcg. In fact REs use hcg to trigger ovulation in some cases, because it acts like LH when the follicle is mature enough.
