Hey guys!

I am so sick of my OB! He isn't helpful and just wants to "try" things to see if they work instead of test. So I made an appointment with a midwife for May 11th and her nurse said it's am evaluation and they'll see if there is any testing or anything else they can do! I'm excited! I hope they find something!

Anyone else have a midwife and love it? Or had a midwife and hated it?

I loved my midwives, but I would highly doubt that a midwife service would run MORE testing than an OB. Typically midwives are more about holistic approaches. Like, mine wouldn't even let me use Zofran, she just got me to take B6 every day. But good luck, I hope it turns out differently for you, that they will test you for all kinds of stuff and give you medicinal AND holistic health at the same time

Ditto what Erin said.
I go to a midwive/OB office and after my miscarriages they have turned me over to the OB every time something happens.
But if you do not like your OB maybe swapping OB's might be a good idea.

I've never had a midwife before, but I did switch OB's because the one I've had for years wouldn't listen to me. I hope you find someone that is a perfect fit for you!

Well you see is I havent had ANY testing done. So if they do anything it will at least be a start for me... I only had my progesterone tested with my last miscarriage and that's it...

I thought about switching OB buy midwives seem more hand holding

I had a midwife with my daughter's pregnancy. Not because I wanted one, but because that was all my insurance would cover in our small rural town. I did see a specialist on the side though for high risk pregnanies, and there was a doctor in the office for emergencies.

I loved her. She was more caring and she took the time to worry about me. With that being said, she was still only a midwife and could not offer me certain things. That is why I had to see a perinatologist (spelling?) on the side.

If you are worried about certain things with the miscarriage, see an OB/GYN. Midwifes are only good if you are already pregnant, and it is a good viable pregnancy with no compications. That is my opinion though, some women might disagree. Switch doctors. Back in our old town, it took me 5 doctors to find the one I fell in love with. It sucks now that we are in another town--so believe me I will be looking around again. I have an appointment on Monday with my sister's doctor. We'll see.

I do not know anything about midwives but if you are unhappy with your ob then I would switch.

I have never been to a midwife, I did switch to a new OB & absolutely LOVE her! I wouldn't be able to go to a midwife anyway because I am high risk...

I hope that you are able to find the perfect fit for you

Sorry I don't know anything about being with a midwife. I agree with the other ladies though. If you are unhappy with you Ob I would check around and switch to another ob.

There are midwives who will do more testing to find out why you are having losses, and the only way to find out is to see her. They tend to spend more time with you and listen to your concerns, so I think it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work out, then switch to another OB.

I LOVE my midwife. She was extremely helpful and saw me through multiple losses. She did testing and referred me when she couldn't help me with something.
Yes, they prefer to do thing holistically but mine had no aversion to using medications when necessary.
I found my midwife practice to be extremely caring. I would NEVER see an OB again. I never felt like a number to anyone in my midwife's practice. After my losses I was treated with the utmost respect and she even came to my D&C with me and held my hand until I was in the surgery.
I had extra ultrasounds and was even able to contact her via email when I was worried about something.

I hope you find a healthcare provider who is caring and wonderful and can help you.

I know that this isn't really what you asked but I loved going to my RE. He actively ran tests and knew how to interpret the results. He found things that my OB glossed over saying wasn't an issue, like MTHFR. Maybe if the midwife isn't able to be find an issue, looking for a good RE in your area might be a good next step.
