Hi my name is Lisa..

My daughter miscarried her little girl at 18 weeks along.. He had passed away about a week before that. She delivered her on March 24th and what they thought was the placenta was passed.. they called her back the next day for a U/s and well they did not get all the placenta and she had a D&c that day the 25th. She bled for about a week then spotted for another week.. they never tested the hcg out of her system and well she had unprotected sex about 2 weeks ago.. it is now 5 weeks 1 day since the D&c.. so my question is how long will she continue to get +hpt and when will they get lighter.. she is seeing a doctor Tuesday but i thought maybe someone he could help me out.. Thanks

So sorry for your daughters loss. Everyone is different on how it takes for the HCG to get out of their system. I had my D&C for my third loss March 20th and I my hcg is 7 still. I was only almost 8 weeks when we m/c. She should ask the doctor to check her hcg until it reaches 0.

I took about six weeks for my HCG to get back to zero after my loss. I'm really sorry for your daughter's loss.

I have never had my levels followed down to zero but after 2 of my 3 miscarriages My period did not show until 6-7 weeks.

My most recent miscarriage was March 17th I had all clear ultrasound the following week. And I tested with HPT and they were negative.... 2 days ago my HCG was positive for pregnancy at only a 12 and my progestrone levels were way to low.
So now we dont know if its a new pregnancy or left over from over 6 weeks ago.
My baby was almost 9 weeks along when it passed away but I think your HCG tops out 10-12 weeks anyway.
I know now to have them follow me to zero or wait until A/F comes to TTC again because this is horrible having to wait all weekend to see if I am really pregnant, if I am going to loss it, or if I just have remaining HCG lingering.

I am sorry for you your guys loss and hope she gets her BFP real soon.

It took me 6 weeks after my D&C to go to negative. Everyone is different though. Hopefully her doctor can help.

It only took me a little over a week for my levels to get down to 0 (or at least I think so). My last draw was at 17, and the doctor felt that he did not need to do anymore after that. I bled for 10 days too I think. It has been a while.

Everyone is different as to how quickly their levels drop. If she has a retained tissue her levels will take longer to drop as well. If she was 18 weeks along her numbers would have been sky high so it will take quite awhile for them to reach zero. Her doctor should follow her very closely. I am sorry for your daughter, you and your family's loss.

Thank you all... we will get more answers tomorrow.. i am just so worried and hope nothing is wrong.. when i read about Hcg levels.. it says hers would have lower at 18 weeks then at 9 weeks (is that not right)?.. As long as her body is doing what it should.. i guess i just figure her levels would be really low 37 days after a D&C, but i have never been through it so thank you ladies so much for your support
