The first time that I had it tested was by a different dr. I had already Oed and had it tested on the required day. I knew that I had a problem because I would start spotting 8 days before my period was due to start. It came back that my progesterone was a 7 when it should have been 15 or above. I scheduled an infertility appointment to see what was going on because she said that I was probably not Oing quality egg. I asked for a progesterone supplement just incase I was pregnant that month. They only gave me 100 mg of Prometrium to take daily. The day before my appointment that I had been waiting 2 months for, her office called and had to reschedule because she was going to be gone the next day. Then ended up putting me at the end of the list and wanted me to wait another 2 months. This is the same Dr that delivered Bella. It was not like I was a new patient. I was very upset, so I found another Dr. who got me in the very next day.
I saw my new Dr. and he did an ultrasound. I just happened to be about to O any day. He said that everything looked good and that my follicle was the right size. He ordered bloodwork for my progesterone to be checked again and he ordered a SA for my husband (we already knew he has bad sperm so he was seeing if they have gotten worse).
My bloodwork came back a 7 again and my husbands SA came back pretty bad. He said that he wanted to put me on Clomid but before that, he wanted my husband to have surgery. He said that with both of our issues, it would be close to impossible for us to conceive..... a few days later I got a positive test.
I went from being at at an all time low of being told we would not have another baby with out extreme measures, to being pregnant with my miracle baby and happier than ever. When I found out I was pregnant, they put me on 200 mg Prometrium orally 2x a day.
Then I had more bloodwork done and my HCG was not rising properly. I had a threatened miscarriage and lost the baby at 6w1d.
I still have my refills from being pregnant and I think I will start taking it tomorrow. If I do not get pregnant this cycle, I will start Clomid next cycle. If I am still not pregnant after that, I have scheduled a IUI consult in a town 4 hours away and we will more than likely go with that.
