Good friend offered to surrogate...

So one of my great friends for years recently told me if it doesn't work she would willingly surrogate for us after her first child was born. (She doesn't have kids yet and isn't TTC)

I know that is the most selfless thing in the world for someone to do. I just really hope it doesn't come down to that. I'm going to keep trying and trying just till I physically can't anymore. I hope I never have to actually have to take her up on that offer.. But it's relieving that there is a back up plan... I just want to be a mom anyway possible!

Anyone else thought about surrogancy? It's a very interesting topic.

Ironic that I offered to be a surrogate for a couple I met in law school, and now I can't even get my own babies anymore.
Luckily, its a few years down the line, and they have a gorgeous girl they adopted from Africa, a little girl they adopted from New York, and are expecting their August miracle this year!

I am thankful, for you, that you have such an amazing friend. But, as you've said, I hope you don't need to take her up on that!

I have had a friend offer to do this for me as well.. but honestly don't think I would ever consider it. There are so many things that could go wrong and I wouldn't want to possibly loss my baby and friend together. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I think that is awesome! I had a friend offer as well but I would never take her up on it. She is um kind of loose and sleeps a around a lot right now. She is single so you know whatever works for her. I do not know if I could handle watching someone else carry my child.

I did the same thing. Funny how that works out.

I personally could not have anyone surrogate for me. It is not the same in my opinion. But each person is different. Then again, I would not know what would go through my head a few years from now. Who knows.
