So AF showed tonight... I knew she was... 5 days late but my legs and back always kill before she does so I knew she would make an appearance!

Well anyway just a couple questions when you guys do CD 1 is that the first day of your period or last?
What brand of ovulation tests are good? ( Apparently Answer sucks cause I got 3 positive OPK last month)
Is First Response ovulation tests alright?
When should I start testing ovulation? (My cycles aren't regular they range from 28-34 days)

I kinda just jumped into charting last month in the middle of the month but now that it's a brand new cycle and a brand new month I can start from the beginning!

I'll continue my prenatal, aspirin, and extra folic acid. I also have an appointment on the 11th to see f the midwife has any advice/see what she can do about my reoccurent miscarriages.

Any advice on charting? This will be my first month seriously charting.

Thank you ladies!

Answer brand sucks. I use the ones from Early Pregnancy Tests and Ovulation Predictor Kits for Home Use and Amazon.com: Wondfo One Step Ovulation (LH) Test Strips, 50-Count: Health & Personal Care

I usually start CD8 because my meds make me O earlier. You should be fine to start at CD10 and keep going until it becomes positive and then negative again. Test once a day between 2-8pm and when it looks almost positive I test twice a day to make sure I catch my surge.

I sucked at charting because I sleep with my mouth open and could never remember to take my temp in the am. So sorry no advice there.

Katie answered the other questions really well so I'll take a stab at the charting. Assuming you already have a basal body thermometer (not a regular fever thermometer), all you really need to do is make sure you temp first thing in the morning when you first wake up. It should consistently be at the same time every morning. I have found that my temps don't fluctuate at all if I take my temp one or two hours earlier or later but I know of other people who's temps do fluctuate that much. If you record a temp taken an hour or more after your usual time, FF will give you an open circle and takes that into consideration when analyzing your temps. Since you are new to it, I recommend making sure you are within 1/2 hour of the same time every morning. Drinking the night before will raise your temp the next morning so if you drink the night before, when you enter your temp, make a note of it and/or discard it. You can temp either orally or vaginally and I have heard that vaginally will give you more accurate readings, especially if you sleep with your mouth open. You just need to make sure you consistently do it one way or the other during a cycle. After you ovulate, you will see a rise in your temps. Sometimes you'll get a big temp spike and other times you will see a slower rise. Don't worry if you have a slower rise, what matters is that your temps stay above the coverline (your pre-O temps). Sometimes people will have a chart that is triphasic (a third rise in temps post-O) and a lot of times that does indicate pregnancy, but not always unfortuntely. I'm sure there's more that I could add but that's all I can think of right now. Good luck!
