Hi ladies,
I'm back...took a little time off from JM to sort of regroup after my loss in April and frankly, I've been exhausted from starting a new job last week. Feels good to be making money again :-) although my 7 month hiatus from working was VERY nice.

Anyway - I got all the results back from my D&C and other bloodwork back yesterday - all my clotting panels were negative, the autoimmune panel (including lupus) was negative, and my thyroid antibodies were normal. So it has not been my body that's been causing all my losses. Yay.

However, they did do chromosome testing on the baby, and found out that she (it was a girl) had trisomy 14, which is "not compatible with life". So that's why I lost her.

My doc wants me to see a geneticst, although he's not sure if trisomy 14 increases risk for future pregnancies or not, I know some of the trisomies do and some are just flukes, especially since hers was the "mosaic" type, which means the mutation popped up later on instead of right at conception. Or at least that's what i think it means. I usually research everything but right now, this one is a little hard to read up on.

I do know there is little that one can do to prevent a genetic mutation, although one study I did read did show that women who smoked and took birth control (neither of which I do) have a greater likelihood of having trisomies, because of reduced oxygen to the ovaries. I'm starting breathing exercises again asap :-)

And now I'm wondering what caused the other 4 losses. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't chromosomes every time, that seems a little excessive. But I guess it doesn't help wondering, since i'll never know. But I did sort of wish that I would have had a positive result on something with my body, so at least I'd have an answer.

thinking of you and your little girl...
From what I understand, there are a few theories for mosaicism, but mostly, its that the male/female cells started out normally, and then something happened during the first few divisions...

You were working in an incredibly toxic environment with your other losses, that could have had to do with those losses...this time you weren't and unfortunately had bad luck...next time, it will be perfect - I cant wait till you have that perfect little bean in there!

Glad you are back, missed ya on here
