So I got a bill in the mail from my OBGYN yesterday for my visits when I miscarried. I went to the dr. Initially bc I was spotting and was worried. They tested my blood and did a ultrasound to verify my pregnancy and to see how far along I was. I ended up miscarrying over the weekend so I went back to the doctor to make sure everything passed and that I didn't need a d&c. They tested my blood and found out I was rh negative so I went back a third time for a rhogam shot. The total cost for all this was $1500!!! My jaw dropped when I saw that. We have insurance but we have to meet our deductible first which is $2000. I am so frustrated bc I feel like I have nothing to show for all that money!

((Hugs)) When I had the cervical ectopic in September my hospital bill for 1 night and a D&C was $26,000. Crazy!

The bills are just another kick in the face about our losses.

Hugs I am so very sorry. I've been actually discussing this with one of the senators where I live. DH and him are friends and he said he will work with me on this and see what we can come up with.

Sorry for the Bill. It sucks when we get a bill high.

Katie, that is great that you are talking to one of the senators.

Wow Missy- I shouldn't be complaining! I am so sorry! It really is just another slap in the face though when you get that bill.

I haven't gotten the itemized list yet from the doctor to see why it was so expensive. This was the statement from the insurance with the total costs. I am definitely going to scrutinize every line when that comes!

My son got a cut on his head and we went in to make sure he didn't need stitches (to the normal doctor, not the ER). They put a dab of glue on his head (took less than 5 minutes) and billed it as a surgery at $900. Luckily, we have good insurance and only had to pay a copay, but still. How are normal people supposed to pay for that kind of ridiculousness?

I would negotiate that bill with them. I have gotten some of my hospital and doctor bills cut literally in half. My hospital bill for my miscarriage was $900 after insurance. I ended up paying $511 for it.

I went into the ER when I suspected a m/c. They did blood work and an u/s ect and my total bill that just came in was $70 and change.
That is a ridiculous bill- wow!
