Hello,
I am mostly a lurker, but wanted some advice from you all. My name is Christina (28) and my DH and I have one son who is 2. I just had a natural m/c last week (ultrasounds showed a 5-6 week sac at 10 weeks with no heartbeat) and I'm really ready to get back on the TTC bandwagon. I did have an u/s after the m/c started to determine if the Dr thought I should get a d&c still since I was scheduled to have one the day after I started to M/c on my own - and they showed that all the tissue, etc was leaving the uterus so i shouldn't have to worry about residual tissue left behind.

This is my third m/c and I've gotten varying information from my dr's about when to start TTC again. With my first it was a D&C (due to how much pain I was in) and the Dr said I could actually start trying that very cycle as soon as I ovulated. The next two were natural m/c and my current Dr (different then the 1st time) said to wait 1-2 cycles - or longer based on when I was emotionally ready to try again. Well since it took us a while to get pregnant this time, I am so ready to start as soon as possible.

So, on to my question - has anyone concieved the very same cycle as your m/c - i.e. no AF between the m/c and getting pregnant? Do you know if there are more risks involved with getting pregnant right away? Does it increase the chances of another m/c? thank you for any input!

I have not gotten pregnant right after a m/c but I think the dr gives varied answers due how they want to track the conception date. GL on TTC. I am sorry for your recent loss.

I have gotten pregnant right after a loss (early loss) and had consecutive losses. BUT a good friend of mine conceived before getting AF and had a happy healthy pregnancy so... Who knows. I think the advice to wait a cycle or two can be for you to heal emotionally and let your body get its hormones back to normal but I don't think it is necessary if you are emotionally ready for another pregnancy.

Best of luck to you!

I got pregnant with my 5 year old right after a m/c. I ovulated about 2 weeks after the m/c and found out about a month after the m/c that I was pregnant. I hope that the same thing happens again this time.

I wish you much luck TTC again and I'm sorry for your loss.

Welcome to the board. I am very sorry for your losses. Different doctors will give you varying answers but your body will not get pregnant if it's not ready. There are lots of woman that have gotten pregnant immediately following a loss and have healthy babies. Good luck and I hope you get a sticky BFP quickly!

I had the same question when I started here. I had a m/c in April and my dr sad to wait 2-3 cycles. I have had one and I am ready to start TTC again! I am scared though if I don't wait long enough I will have another m/c if my body isn't ready. Good luck to you!

Welcome! I am sorry for your loss. I think it is up to the person when they feel like they will be ready to try. With my first loss we waited, with the last two losses we aren't waiting.

thank you for all of your advise, I think maybe we'll try to NTNP this month and then actually start trying again next month.

thanks for the advise and I wish you all the best in the future.

I got pregnant right after a loss and it was an ectopic.
Ended up being very scary because I have no clue how far along I was good thing I was a POAS addict and caught it early.
I know lots of ladies go back to back and everything ends up fine... but I am going to wait so I know for sure my dates.
But ectopics are very rare and could happen if I waited or not.

My current OB recommended we wait 3 cycles after the m/c to TTC again. She said we didn't HAVE to, but that statistically your rate of miscarriage goes up about 4% if you get pregnant sooner than 3 months after a m/c. She said for some, that 4% greater risk isn't enough of a risk to wait, but if we wanted the absolute best shot at a healthy pregnancy the next time around, to wait it out. We have decided to NTNP until the three cycles are done, and then go back to OPK's.
