I'm trying to see if there are any 40+ mommies who have had a miscarriage and was successful in conceiving and delivering a healthy baby/babies.
I'm looking for some hope, path and support through my journey to motherhood.

Yes, there are a few of us here in TTCAL. I just turned 40 in Dec, and Im on my second pregnancy after loss baby. I had 3 m/c's in 2009, followed by a successful one that resulted in the birth of my dd in 2010. Im currently 18wks with my second pg after loss and a total of 5 living children all together. It can and does happen to us, and Im praying for a healthy baby in your very near future!

I'm 45. I got preg on clomid iui. I've read so much depressing info about what bad will happen at this age. It's disgusting!
I have my first gyn appt since my D & C almost 2 weeks ago. I had a missed miscarriage at 8w 2d. I have a list of questions for my dr. He said he was going to do a genetic test on my baby. I hope there is some concrete info as to what happened.
My next question is when can I start trying again and what is my chances of m/c again.
I'm flustered. I'm happy that I CAN get preg, but so sad that i did not keep it. I want to know what to do to keep my baby and have as successful preg.
So, I'm so glad I found this site that can support me and my pregnancy journey.

I had a loss in October and turned 40 in December. I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with twins. We decided against amnios due to double risk with twins. We are praying for healthy babies!

I totally understand your fears. I'm 37 and so scared that it won't happen. But, there are tons of success stories so I have faith that we will all get our rainbow babies soon.

Hi and Welcome to TTCAL. I am sorry you have to be here, but glad you found us.
I am 42 and had 4 losses in 2.5 years. I am currently 15weeks pregnant. It can happen, just do not give up hope. At our ages our egg quality goes down a ton and the chance of miscarriage goes way up. I think it was Lori's RE that said she had a 1:10 chance of getting pregnant with a "good egg".

Ok, ok, Thank you ladies so I'm hearing success stories. Good, I need this right now to move on to my rainbow baby. BTW what does rainbow baby mean?
Miss123, Avasmom and momof5lopez, I'm so happy for you! I need to hear such amazing stories. Did you ladies do anything special? Did any of you guys do the red rasberry tea and all that health stuff I'm hearing about?
This question is for everyone: Did any of you ladies read the book Inconceivable?
I'm in such pain. Last night I took my dog for a long walk, a little over an hour, and cried every step.

I took DHEA and honestly I feel it is what made the difference for us. We went over a year with all BFN's after our 2nd loss and 2 cycles after starting the DHEA we got pregnant! We ended up with 2 more losses before this but honestly I doubt I would be pregnant without it.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know your pain and it is "normal" to feel that way. I went through so many stages... denial, anger, pain, depression, sadness, more anger, more depression and finally acceptance. Feel free to vent away here, we all understand. ((hugs))

Hi, sorry Im late to the thread. I turned 40 in February. I lost our baby in Feb 2010 and it took us 9 months (Although we skipped 2 months). I had one month of Clomid, then one month with Femara, which is the cycle we concieved. I also drank water with a half a lemon squeezed into it every morning, until I got my bfp. We used preseed, and timed intercourse. Everyother day. I took folic acid and prenatals. And drank spearmint tea. I think thats it lol. I am 27 weeks pregnant and everything looks fantastic with our baby.
I know how painful this journey is and Im so sorry you are having to go through this. You are very lucky to have found this board. The ladies of TTCAL are the most supportive and loving women I have ever encountered. You will get there, dont give up your dreams. Good luck.

Only took my prenatels and extra folic acid prior to conceiving both babies. I was put on progesterone supplements for extra precaution with both as well, after ovulation. Baby aspirin after ovulation as well.
No other supplements or medical help for my poor egg quality/quantity. I always ovulated every month, and got pg quite easy, but the eggs were no good. Just had to wheather the storm until a good one came along......it can be a tough road, but the outcome is worth it. Praying for some healing for you and that you dont have repeated loss's before you get your rainbow baby (a baby after m/c)

I went to my post op today. I had to wait outside to be called. I couldn't sit in the office filled with pregnant ladies. With tears in my eyes, I told the receptionist that I can't handle being in here and to please get me from outside when they're ready for me.
I sat on the steps and wept.
My dr. said that my cervix closed and that I could start back intercourse with my DH and exercising. I got a little gut from the Clomid. I have a five week appt. to come back and then we can try again.
He said he didn't get the results back from the chromosonal test from my baby girl, but probably won't get anything conclusive, but most probably it was poor quality eggs.
K....now I know I gotta get better eggs!
I'm taking the summer off to heal and reconnect with the woman that I am. I'm broken, battered and scarred.
Thanks ladies for your information. They were helpful.

I'm so sorry things are so hard. Crying, even though it hurts so much, is the only way through it. "You can't heal it if you can't feel it."
I'm feeling very hurt and angry today too. I keep screaming inside "I SHOULD BE PREGNANT RIGHT NOW!!!" and I'm so mad that I'm not. I'm terrified to keep trying because of the egg quality issue. I'm pretty sure I just had a chemical pregnancy (three tests with very faint lines and then negatives, all before af was even due though), and it scares me to think I may have to keep going through losses until a "good one" comes along. If I did indeed just have a chemical, I guess I should be relieved that the egg was "bad enough" that I didn't go through what in March again. I just ordered Fertiliaid from the early pregnancy test website, which I think is supposed to improve the egg quality? With my birthday coming up, I guess I'm just P-O'ed that I'm fearing getting older instead of relishing my new age like I'd hoped I would. If I was still pregnant, then I'd be loving being older and celebrating with a big ol' bump like I should have.
Best wishes to you
I love hearing all of the success stories too!

@Jen71 what's Fertiliaid? What does it do? The part of me that has climbed so many physical and emotional mountains is screaming inside..."F@@*! those DR'S!!!! We'll find that ONE good egg, fertilize it, nuture it, grow it, birth it and have our perfect little baby!!!! F@(@* THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" screaming as loud as I can and shaking!
I'm BITTER with my eggs! I'm BITTER with GOD! I'm BITTER with my DH for taking so DAM long to get to the this place and this point to be with me!!!! TIME is not on my side!!!!
AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ladies, please don't stop telling me your success stories. I need to hear them.

Here is some information on the DHEA for Egg quality that I took. Premature Ovarian Aging, DHEA Treatment for Fertility in Older Women :: CHR
I totally understand your screaming and yelling and not wanting to be in that doctors office. For my first check up I cried the whole time, the poor midwife could barely get me to speak a sentence. I just nodded a lot and cried. ((hugs))

Thanks ladies.
I'm still in crying motion but the fighter in me is kicking in and I'll be DAM if they deny me my healthy baby. I'm in ANGER state!
God bless you all!
