Tonight my DH mentioned the word..."Invitro" as an option. I've not been pregnant for almost three weeks.

To do Invitro we would have to switch health insurance. My question: I'm under my DH insurance. Is it possible for me to have one plan and my DH and DSS to be on another?

I really don't want my DH and DSS to switch plans, but if they must so that I can complete my family, I will. Does anyone know anything about insurance.

The reason I ask is I want to call Human Resource with information, so that I won't be told incorrect information like I was last year.

I found out that one insurance that my husband has would cover me on my blood count not my age. For some reason the DIRECTOR, who took it upon herself to help me and research did not find this out! I found it out by accident that this insurance would cover me regardless of my age, but my blood count.

So, long story short, does anyone have any information about this?

Samoy

I really don't know a lot about insurance but I would imagine that it would depend on the insurance company and what their policies are.

I would actually call the insurance company that you, your DH and DSS are covered by and ask them based on your plan what it covers.

I used to be an Employee Benefits Specialist and dealt with this twice before. If your DH is the provider (the insurance is through his work) then you all have to be covered under the same plan because it goes by the plan your DH picks. You could always call the insurance company and check with them but from before that is not possible to do Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

You need to talk to your human resources person. Sometimes you have to wait for open enrollment to sign up.

ETA: You can usually only change your plan during the "Open" period and would have to call the HR at your DH's work to find out when that is.

With some insurances you can also be double covered I believe. I don't know if they will tell you anything if it is under your husband's name, but you can find out.

Was lurking so Im going to poke my nose in

You can have a seperate policy from your DH if its going to be in your name and not thru him.. like getting it thru your own work. You cant be under his policy and have different plans thou like he has an HMO and you want PPO. Entire family would need to be under same plan on one policy.

You can have 2 policy's as well but whomevers birth month is first would be the primary policy. And it dosent go by year or age just by birth month.
