After my last m/c my dh and I had testing done and I was told that my lupus anti-coagulant was high. All my doctor said was, "Take an aspirin a day and that will fix that". End of story.

Ok, my question is this-- I'm terrible about drinking water. Terrible. I try but if I get 32oz in me a day I feel like I've been pretty good. Does water intake help dilute your blood if you have a clotting disorder? This is a silly question but I've often wondered if my low water intake has affected things in the past...

No, the concentration of your blood is highly regulated by your body (brain/hypothalamus/pituitary/hormones), and the ability of your blood to clot is not affected by how much water you drink. You really should aim for 64 ounces of non-caffeinated fluid per day, though.... 32 oz is not enough for your health.

I started taking a baby aspirin per day after my last miscarriage, and it seems to be working so far (no scientific evidence for it, but baby is progressing this time). I wasn't officially tested, though. I know many of the ladies on PAL with clotting disorders go on lovenox for clotting disorders once they have a confirmed pregnancy, but it depends on the type of disorder. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I was curious about the correlation. I have no idea if I will need more than aspirin because my doctor wasn't really giving a lot of details. Thanks for filling me in. =)
