Hi ladies, I have a quick question as I'm super new at this.

So I have been testing with OPKs pretty regularly to try and track ovulation but they are ALWAYS negative. Both last month and this month. I dont get it. Last month I tested during when I was supposed to test and twice a day too! Always negative. I did get my period (a 33 day cycle which is normal for me) but never had a positive OPK. This month, I have been testing often too and always have negative results. Yesterday and the day before gave me faint lines but nothing dark at all. I have never gotten a dark test line.

I know I actually ovulate and I actually have other signs like EWCM (sorry tmi) but no positive test. Have you guys ever experienced this? Where you THINK you're ovulating-or youre about to and always get neg OPKs? So frustrating!

Several years ago when I used OPKs I never was able to get positive results either. My ovulation was weak at that time so it might be the reason for me. I did start OPKs (actually internet cheapies) and I got a positive result this past monday. Perhaps it is the brand that you are using? Does your cycle usually 33 days or does it vary? What my doctor has told me is that ovulation happens 14 days in from the last day of your cycle. So if your cycle is 33 days then you would ovulate on cycle day 20. What cycle day do you start testing and for how many days do you test?
I am not the greatest on this either but I got it to work with the help of clomid to highten the strength of my ovulation.

Thanks for replying. I'm using internet cheapies as well. I got anther negative one and today is my predicted ovulation day I don't really know what's going with me haha. You mention weak ovulation, what does that mean? Does it mean not ovulating or just ovulating late?

What weak ovulation means that the amount of LH (protein that the body produces when it start gearing up to ovulate) also that the release of progesterone is low (this is what the body produces right at ovulation and after ovulation). I would really suggest if you think that your ovulation is not working well (because I do not think that the OPKs is picking up the LH at the 24-36 hrs before actual ovulation) to contact your OBGyn doc to discuss what is going on so that they can monitor that. My ovulation was not working well and my doc monitored me by doing blood work to check the strength of my ovulation on day 21 of my cycle. Do you have a doc that can help you monitor this?

Before having Kaiden, every time I had an unmedicated cycle, I had weak ovulation - for my OB, weak is defined as progesterone under 10 at 7DPO...
For me, ICs actually do work (though drug store brands never work for me)...my suggestion for you is 2 things:
1. start temping, see if your temperature rises after ovulation, that can confirm that you ovulate...
2. have your DOC run your progesterone at 7DPO...if it is over 5, that means you ovulated, if it is less than 10, that means that it was a weak ovulation - but either way, you will know -GL!
