Hello Ladies,
A little background: MMC at 16+5 weeks. Was induced on 1st April, followed by an emergency erpc as I was hemoraging. All in all an extremely traumatic time both physically (my bp was 50/23 at one point...) and emotionally.
THis month we felt ready to try again, even though I wasn;t sure I'd O'd in the two cycles since the procedure. I started charting again to be sure!
O was cd21, which is obviously quite late but I should add I'm still breastfeeding my nearly 16month son, and that has pushed back my O, so 'late' is actually normal for me just now.
My lp, which has ALWAYS been 14 days in the 10 cycles I've charted in the past, was a woeful 9 days. And my period was extremely heavy (flooding, clots) and painful (as it was last month too).
Now. SHould I be concerned yet? It was a late loss and as I understand it, 3 months is what it can take to get back to normal. So do I wait and see/hope everything is ok this month? Did any of you experience shorter LP's following a loss that then righted itself?
Just looking for some hope, I guess. I'm 37 and if I can't get pregnant soon I think I'm going to give up.

((HUGS)) I am very sorry for your loss. You can take vitamin B6 to lengthen your LP. It's not easy but lots of ladies have gotten their rainbow babies and they are older than you. Try to stay positive hun .

I had a loss at 15 weeks and had a D&C. I did take a couple months to get back on track and its just like when you deliver a term baby when you get further along. Your body needs that time to get back to normal. I would give it another month then call the dr. But if you are overly concerned a call never hurt . Good luck. I hope you get your rainbow baby very soon.

Thanks for your replies.
SHortcake - Thanks. It's easy to be negative, I try not to, but now and then it's just difficult to shake. I know, in theory, I have a good few years of fertility left (DS2 was conceived on the 2nd cycle when I was 35, and my loss concieved the first cycle when I was 37 so my fertility seems to be holding out quite well!) As much as I want another baby, my main reasons are to give ds2 a sib close in age to him and because DP really wants another. DS2 is a demanding baby, an I'm of the thinking that I'm 'in for a penny, in for a pound' I'm already in the zone of little sleep and no social life so nw is the time to go for it... as he gets older, and gets easier, I don't thnk I'll want to go back to babydom (this is my second family, after all - already have two older kids with my exH).
Jess, you're saying what I think I know - I'm probably expecting too much for everything to ping back to normal. Ugh, just so impatient!

It is easy to be negative. I've been there too many times so I know the feeling all to well. Sometimes we need someone to put a positive swing on it I hope your body gets back to normal quickly.

I have never ever had a short lp until the cycle after my m/c, I think it was only like 9 or 10 days. Now it seems to be lengthening out again. I bet your hormones are just taking some time to get back to normal. I hope this next cycle gets better!

Amanda-- First of all I'm so sorry for your loss.
I had a late loss at 18 weeks with a D&C for retained placenta which didn't come out naturally. It took a long time to get back on track physically (emotionally it is going to take a lot longer, as I'm sure you know). I hemoraged just like you and needed a blood transfusion. Totally awful.
Taking 3 months for things to get "back to normal" is on the low end. I've heard of it taking upwards of 5 and 6 months for for your cycle to get completely back to how it was. Granted, you should have your period about 6-8 weeks later but it will likely be different for awhile.
In my case, it's been almost 5 months and my periods are just starting to become normal again. But from what I've read, things will get back to normal and if they dont, your doctor can do a few tests to see about anything that may be a problem like scar tissue (which is rare and can be reversed) Good luck and I wish you the best.

Thank you so much for your kind words, ladies. Of course, I'm sad that you too have known loss and are in a position to offer me advice
Today, I'm on cd6 and feeling so positive. I can't explain why! Of course, I could find my lp is still short this month but if it is, it is. I feel like I have moved from knowing it might take more than three months for my body to straighten itself out to actually accepting it.
Thank you, again.
