Bleeding After D & C and m/c

I had a D & C almost 5 weeks ago and am still bleeding. I thought last week that I was starting AF but then had HCG checked on Tuesday and nurse said my numbers were 6.3 so that I hadn't started AF. She said the bleeding war normal but it just seems like I have been bleeding a long time. It has not been constant for 5 weeks but has just been off and on since the D & C. How long did you guys bleed after m/c? Did any of you experience what I am experiencing? when did your AF show up? I am praying that it happens soon. I go back to the doctor next week to get my HCG checked again and I'm hoping that it will finally be at 0.

Have you had a follow up u/s? I was spotting for about two weeks after my D&C - it turned out I had retained tissue that the D&C didn't clear. I'll have to find my charts to figure out when AF showed up.. I will do that later and try to remember some more info. I'm sorry for your loss!

You should not be bleeding that long after a D&C. Did it stop for a while and then start again? Is thats what makes you think it was A/F?
I did not get my A/F for 6 weeks after my D&C.
But after my ectopic I got A/F and my HCG was 15 and my DR said anything is possible. So I counted it as A/F and sure enough it ran just like a regular cycle. So maybe you did have A/F?

Out of my 3 losses I bled the longest with this last one, and it was a D&C. I bled for just over 5 weeks, and AF returned at just over 6 weeks. It felt like the longest 6 weeks of my life. I hope she shows for you soon.

After my first d&c I didn't bleed for the first week alsmot. Then I started spotting and bleeding for weeks after. I also ended up with a bad infection and landed in the hospital for the infection. After my last d&c I only spotted and bleed for about 2 weeks.

I wanted to add that it is possible for AF to return before your hcg is negative. I had two AFs after my D&C before my hcg was negative. HCG doesn't stop you from ovulating, it's progesterone that does that when you're pregnant (which drops quickly after miscarriage even if there is still hcg) so you could have ovulated and then gotten AF. You could also get AF without ovulating.

I looked back over my post D&C chart. ok I didn't spot, I BLED for a full two weeks and a half after the D&C and then spotted for another week.
I got my first real AF on CD37 so just over 5 weeks after the D&C.

I only had 2 days of spotting after my D&C. If you feel something isnt right then push for an ultrasound. ((HUGS))

Thanks guys. I didn't know that AF could show up if your HCG was not back to 0. I bled for the first two weeks after D & C and then stopped bleeding for about a week and then started bleeding again which is why I thought AF was here. Maybe I did have AF. I am going back to doctor next week so hopefully they can give me some more answers. Dr. did say that if HCG was not back to 0 by 6 weeks he would do an ultrasound to make sure that he got all the tissue. This whole thing just sucks terribly. I hate that any woman has to go through this.

That could have been AF.. I only had 9 days of no bleeding/spotting in my first post D&C cycle and I knew it was a true AF because I was temping and saw the temp shift. I'm glad you're going to see your doctor, hopefully you'll get the all clear.
