Hi Ladies,

I'm currently going through a m/c... we had an ultrasound on Friday that showed that the baby had stopped developing at about 8 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I should have been 10w 5d that day. I had just started spotting the day before. So the cramping and bleeding have been getting gradually worse since then and I'm just waiting, hoping that I can pass everything naturally.

We were preventing, so it wasn't a planned pregnancy. But it turns out that we were both thrilled with the idea. I think that as soon as my body recovers we'll probably think about TTC. I'm 36 and don't want to waste any more time now that we're already used to and loving the idea of having a little one in our lives.

My question is: when did everyone start TTC after your losses? Is there an amount of time that you should wait? I'm sure that it's different for everyone, and I've read that docs recommend giving yourself 3 cycles before you try. But it also sounds like there's increased fertility in those first months after a loss...

This was my first pregnancy and my first loss... hoping to try again soon.

Hi and welcome! This is a fabulous board full of tons of support! I'm so sorry for your loss and can completely relate as my m/c happened with a "whoops" pregnancy. Same as with you, we were instantly thrilled so were devastated when we lost it. My doctor advised me to wait 3 months before TTC, but as I am 37 I didn't want to wait at all so we started TTC after I got my first post-m/c AF. Unless your doctor gives you a valid medical reason to wait, you should be able to start when you are ready emotionally. I had also heard that you are more fertile after a m/c but so far that has proven to not be true for me. I hope it is different for you and you get a BFP right away.

On a side note, I am originally from Montana and lived right outside of Bozeman for a while when I was a kid. I live in Maine now, but Montana will always be my home. It is the most beautiful place I've ever been.

My doctor told me to wait one cycle for dating purposed but told us there is no medical reason to wait. If your body isn't ready it won't get pregnant. I am very sorry for your loss and I hope you get your sticky BFP quickly.

Welcome.

My doctor advised me to wait until I had two normal periods before trying again, but I was in no way emotionally ready to try again so soon. My angel was also unplanned, but my m/c made me want another baby more than ever because even though I was only 6 wks along, I loved that baby just as much as I love the two kids that I have with me.

I lost my baby in April and I started my second cycle at the beginning of this month and we just started trying. As long as there isn't a medical reason not to and you feel ready, then I don't see any reason to wait. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome and the advice ladies. I passed the sac earlier today and am feeling much better physically. We have an appointment in a couple days with our midwife to talk about things, including the future. Hopefully we'll have a little one that will stick soon.

I really love Bozeman. This is such beautiful country. I just moved here a year ago and it's home now. I love Maine too though... they're similar in ways I think. My mom worked in Portland for a while and I'd take the train from Boston up there. Just gorgeous.

Oh wow! Yeah, Portland is really nice...I'm about 3 hours up the coast. It's nice here too, but a little bit secluded. I'm glad you're enjoying living in Montana. My parents are going to Billings next month to visit friends and I'm really jealous!

Good luck with your appointment. I hope that your cycle regulates right away so you can get your sticky BFP.

I am sorry about your loss. I had a mc June 15, and we are already ttc. I had a natural mc, bled for 7 days and haven't had any bleeding or pain since. I was about 6 weeks when I mc.
