I went for my follow up appointment this morning and my HCG has dropped from 71,000 two weeks ago to 22,000 on Monday. My 10w3d u/s still showed an empty sac. The doc prescribed me 400mg of Cytocec to be inserted vag. tonight and another 200mg to take in the morning if nothing happens overnight. I then have to meet him at the hospital tomorrow morning where he will either check to see if everything has passed or he will schedule me for a D&C. We didn't choose the D&C right away because the OR at the hospital is closed for renovations and I would have to drive 3 hours to the nearest hospital to have it done and my doc leaves for a month long vacation on Friday.

I really don't know what to expect. I am really scared that the cramping and bleeding will be bad. I also have to bring in the "tissue" as the doctor calls it in with me tomorrow. This all sounds sureal to me. I think I am still in shock.

For those who have taken these pills before was the cramping really bad. I guess I am afraid of the unknown.

Sorry this is so long. I am just really nervous and stressed about all of this. My head has been spinning so much that I haven't even had a chance to feel sad yet.

I know most women take some meds to help with the pain. Please make sure that someone is home with you when you take them and also that you watch your bleeding.

I took it 2 different times but mime was oral. I really was not as bad as all the stories I read online or as bad as I made it out to be in my head.
Be prepared to see than tissue... That's what my dr told me and I actually saw my baby. But in honestly felt it gave me more closure vs the D&D I had before that.
It put me into labor and the hardest part was about 2 hours when I had contractions and passed the sac. After that I had a good 24-36 hours of bleeding that was extremely heavy.
I would take pain meds, and just keep an eye on your bleeding.
My dr told me to take the pills at night but I took them in the afternoon and glad I did or I would have been up all night.

Wow sorry for all the errors I am trying to get use to my iPad.

I took them back in September. I also had an empty sac and I was about 9 weeks and a half. I don't want to scare you but the pain was really bad, even with tylenol 3, so I would recommend prescription painkillers. And the upshot is that I didn't even pass the sac, I think it was a huge clot I passed, so I ended up with a D&C. Good luck I hope things go as well as they could for you! (((HUGS)))

Thanks for the info ladies. I have avoided google all day because I was afraid of what I may read. I have some fairly good painkillers here that were prescribed for me after my D&C and a previous laparoscopy. DH is here with me so I won't be alone.

I am so sorry for your loss
I was prescribed percocet to help with the pain, and even though I took it, the pain was still very very rough for a good hour when I was passing the baby...

IDK about you, but if you cant collect the tissue, dont beat yourself up, I wanted to collect the baby but mentally - at that moment - it was too hard for me to actually do it...take care of yourself first...

Also, my gestational sac didnt come out till 5 days later...so, sometimes it takes a bit of time...

I'm thinking about you tonight, its a terrible experience for anyone to go through
