Okay I just need to vent a little bit. I was downtown this morning and saw a lady who was approximately 6 to 7 months pregnant and she was smoking a big nasty cigarette. I just wanted to yell at her and tell her that she was harming her sweet innocent baby. Just makes me so mad when I wanted my baby so badly and I would have never done anything to harm that baby and here is this lady who is so blessed with a sweet baby just smoking away.

Sorry if I offend anybody who does smoke but if you do smoke please quit now. It is so terrible for you and definitely terrible for your unborn child. Plus it is such a nasty habit.

Thanks for listening. I just had to get that out.

oh that makes me so mad - my SIL is pregnant and her partner (and his friends) always smoke around her. it really pisses me off because my partner and i are both smokers but when we were expecting i quit immediately and he started smoking outside. My SIL and her partner were there when we lost our baby and i know he saw how distraught we were so i don't understand how he can act like this around his pregnant fiancee. Most of the time she will catch my eye and we will take the dogs for a walk in an effort to get away from the smoke but she shouldn't have to. anyway that's my rant over.

That is really bad. We saw a pg lady outside of a gas station and she was smoking too. Yuck!!! Turning my stomach when we are trying here and someone else that is going to have what we want the most does not care about it.

I hate that too, but what I hate worse is seeing someone smoking in the car with kids.

Pregnant women who continue to smoke always, at the very least, irritates me. My BF and I have both been smokers and with each pregnancy, we have both quit. His logic is that we're both "pregnant" so he stays away from the dangerous stuff just like I do, like cigarettes and alcohol. Thankfully, when I quit the last time that I became pregnant, I haven't started back since and I'm extremely proud of myself. This is the longest that I have quit without actually being pregnant or BFing!

My step MIL smoked during both of her pregnancies. Her first child was "fine" but her second (who was just born on Thursday) had breathing issues and was in the NICU from Friday until tomorrow when he's scheduled to be released. The dr told her that it's most likely not related to the smoking but I think otherwise. There's no way to know what smoking will do to the unborn child. He might not have had the breathing problems at all if she wouldn't have smoked. It ticks me off!!! Alot of women have problems getting pregnant or staying pregnant and people who smoke don't realize how fragile pregnancy is....IMO.

I don't beleive that either! DH's mom didn't smoke with him and he came out fine. But with her other 3 kids she smoked throughout the pregnancy and they ALL had issues, low birth weight, nicu, they now have asthma..

It makes me upset too.
Especially when it's people close to you.

I saw this the other day too and felt exactly the same way. Why do people like that get to have healthy, normal pregnancies, but my baby didn't even get a chance at life?
