So, a little background on me. I had ten losses before my son. When I finally got someone to prescribe prometrium I got my sticky BFP which became Peter..... YAY!

I got my first PP AF on July 4th (even though I am EBF, Grrrr) and if my cycles are the same as they were before Peter, We DTD on O day this Wednesday. (CD 18) S I am a bit nervous.... I haven't decided whether or not I am ready for another. I do know that I would rather not have another loss...

Should I take prometrium? I took it starting on 3 DPO with Peter? Or should I see if I need it anymore? I hear that sometimes having a full term pregnancy can rectify fertility issues...

What do you girls think?

Erica I personally would take it... if it in any way could prevent me from having a loss I wouldn't want to chance it. Good luck sweetie and I know you will make the right choice for you

I'd take it too. It won't hurt anything if you do and don't need it.

I would take it in a heartbeat if I weren't nursing. I don't want to risk problems with my milk if I didn't even O...

I would wait until you know for sure you're cycles have returned to normal. With my first, I was EBF and had ppaf at 5mths. I didn't have another one until 8mths. If you're concerned about loosing your milk, I would wait until you get a positive before starting the prometrium. Just my 2c

I would personally wait until you are done breast feeding before you fully try again.
Did you have a goal of how long you wanted to BF? Because 9 times out of 10 you will quit once you are pregnant again because of sore boobs and the decrease in milk supply. The hormones from breastfeeding might effect the start of your next pregnancy. My loss last fall I just weaned DD the month before and the midwife told me (before we found out about the MTHFR) that the hormones from BF could have had a part in my loss.

I guess it all depends on how important breastfeeding is to you. I went 2.5 years with DD and it was the most important thing to me and I wanted nothing to mess that bond up. But on the other hand I have friends that go until 3 months or less and that is totally fine with them.

I want to BF Peter until he wants to stop, but probably not longer than 3... I don't want to wait until then to TTC though.

I would ask the dr how it could/would affect your breast milk. I agree that if EBF is important you might want to hold off on trying again. Good luck sweetie.

I would contact your local LLL... honestly they know more about this than Dr's tend to. my Dr promised me an IUD would not effect my milk and as soon as it was in it plumited and I had to get it removed and work so hard to keep breastfeeding.

What I would suggest since BF seems to be very important to you is maybe wait to TTC until he is on solids at about 7 months old. That way you can chart and see what your cycles are doing and then at that point he is not 100% relying on your milk and it may not effect your supply as much.

I hope this helps. I had so many issue with breastfeeding I went to so many meetings and through so many DRs until I got it right. This area is so not supportive of breastfeeding I had to teach my self whats right and wrong with books and asking tons of other mommies.

Since the progesterone is passed through your breast milk, I would not take it. If you do get pg while bf'ing, then I would re-evaluate your bf'ing Peter then. Unfortunately, with your history of early loss's and most likely related to low progestertone, I dont see how you will get the best of both worlds out of your situation. I would be seariously torn in your situation as well. I would re-avaluate this whole thing with your dr. again, and let her know how important it is for you try now to TTC, and see if there are more natural ways to boost your progesterone?

I am sorry you are going through this. I agree with the other ladies about talking to your doctor.

We are not really Ttc and I plan on starting implanon soon. We just DTD a few days ago and I realized it was on CD 18, when is when I used to O before I had Peter. I don't know if things change after a full term pregnancy or not. I am still breastfeeding full time, so I don't even know if my cycles are regular yet... I just don't want to miscarry, if all I have to do is take a pill!
