So this is my first cycle charting everything. I've been temping religiously at 8:00 am every morning, waking up then and temping before I get out of bed. My temps have all been in the 97.4 to 97.7 range, not matter what variables. So this morning my dumb body decides to wake up at 7:00. I took my temp then because I wasn't sure what would happen with that extra hour. My temp was 97.29. So an hour later my alarm went off, I woke up and I stuck the BBT in my mouth. That temp was 96.87!

Which temp do you think I should use as my official one for the day?? I haven't been able to find an answer online or on the charting board....

Thanks, thanks for any advice!

I would use your first one. An hour difference shouldn't make that much of a difference. If you find that it is making a huge difference on your chart you can exclude that one.

I agree with Katie. I would use the first one. I know it varies from woman to woman, but I have found that my temps don't really fluctuate whether I take it on time or an hour off. I think the first one would be the most accurate since you took it first thing after a consistent amount of sleep.

I would go with the first temp also. I take my temps at different times usually no more than an hour off each day and they seem to be consistent. Sometimes I get up at 6:00 and sometimes 7:00 and they always seem fine.

Thanks ladies!! I'll use the first one... I was kind of hoping that this might be my temp dip... I've been having some cramping and pinching in the ovary area all morning. Today's OPK was still neg though... Not too worried cuz DB and I have been BDing like crazy and we're kind of in NTNP mode for the moment anyway. I'm just trying to figure out why my darn body is up to!!

Have you tried temping vaginally? I was doing it oral at first and my temps were all over the place! I am pretty sure I sleep with my mouth open tho which didn't help.

Hmm... now there's a thought. I've read about it but didn't even really think about it. Maybe next cycle I'll try that...

I don't temp anymore, too much stress for this gal, but temping vaginally made a WORLD of difference. Once I started temping vaginally, I never looked back. My temps were much more "stable" that way, and made my charts a ton easier to interpret.

I'm going to have to give the vaginal temping a shot... yesterday I had the lowest temp since I started charting (97.29) and then this morning I had the highest (97.79). I don't really trust the numbers though because the last few nights I have not been sleeping well. I do okay until I wake up to pee around 3 or 4... after that I have a hard time getting back to sleep and then I wake up at least every hour. I don't think that I can get an accurate reading can I? Is temping vaginally as affected by sleep? I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it...
