Yesterday I was hanging out with my DSD (she's 10) and she told me she really wanted me and her dad to give her a little brother or sister. It totally broke my heart because she has no idea how hard I am trying to give her that. She has no idea about the m/c or that we are trying so it truly came from her heart out of nowhere. Even though it upset me (in that I am trying so hard but failing), it also made me feel so good because it showed me that she really feels like I am a stepmother to her and that we are a family. It was very sweet.

Has anyone else had these moment with step or bio children? Did they know you were trying? Do you think her dad and I should tell her we are trying or should we wait until we are pregnant?

Yes my 3 year old asks all the time. Out of all my friends with kids I am the only one with an only child and she see's that they have a sibling and to her its like a full time play mate and keeps asking for brudder or sisser.
It does break my heart because I am trying so hard and this is the one thing totally out of my control.

That is a really great moment for you, but also so sad. I'm glad she thinks of you all as a family. My DD has been asking to be a big sister and for a baby to play with for a while. My kids have no idea that we've been trying so hard to give that to them!

My 5 year old asks for a baby too. He tells me that he wants a baby brother ALL THE TIME!! It's hard to not say anything but I know that he will be SO happy when the day comes.

LOL! Trying to picture that!

It is so hard to want to give them their little sibling and they have no idea how hard it is or what any of us go through. Let's just hope that we are all able to do that for them very soon!
