Has any one kind of ruined a future baby name you would have liked to use?

Mine: We really like to stick to family names, and I had thought about using my Grandmothers name Ruby, but my IL's have a dog named Ruby- because they moved out to a farm and they decided it sounded rednecked. (BTW- my Grandma was anything but a redneck )

I always loved the name McKenna but since my sister used the name MeKenzie on my niece I can't use it But other than that I don't believe so.

I love the name Isabel (after my grandmother) or Isabella but my cousin named his daughter Isabella and my niece's middle name is Isabel.

Got another, I always thought of using Rielly after my Great Grandmother maiden name, O'Reilly. But my cousin on the other side named her daughter Rylie. Who knows I may bring it back, I wanted to use it as a middle name for a boy anyway.

Girls:
Luella June
Mable Sue
Caydence Leanor
Keylin Jordan
Delilah Marie

Boys:
Kajtan Eugenio
Michah Eugenio
Rilo Eugenio

Those are all my future baby names... I have options! But I really like the name Kollins for a girl and my sister stole it from me. Also Kajtan is probably my most favorite boy name... One day someone said "That is a black name you can't name a white/Hispanic baby that! Blah blah blah! Now I'm nervous about that.

If we have a girl it's going to be hard which name to use... But it will be one of those and our first boy will have the middle name Eugenio. DH is from Chile and it's been passed down to the first son for generations... We cant break the cycle!

I was planning to use the mn Mae in honor of my Dad, whose birth month was May. I put dibs on my first name choices when my cousin got pregnant, but it never occurred to me to put dibs on my middle name choices! She used Mae for her daughter's mn, so even though she wouldn't mind me using it too, it just wouldn't feel as "special" now. I also loved the name Naomi for a girl, but I got a college roommate from you know where who ruined that name for me! Can't think of any other ruined names that were actually on the short list. Plenty of ruined names from being a teacher that probably never would have made the list anyways

Well it is not completely ruined but we want/ed to name our first boy Maximus Conrad and call him Max for short. (Conrad is my maiden name and my dad had three girls so we need the name to continue somehow.) Well I was talking to my BIL and his wife and my SIL same that she would call him Maxipad and my BIL said it was the worst name he had ever heard of! I was furious and I can feel my blood boiling again. I never asked their opinion and btw I hate the name they just used for their son but did I say anything to them about it? Of course not! It is not of my business and it is completely and utterly rude!!!

How rude of them! I wouldn't let that change me from naming my child. The first time they started calling him that I would go off on them!

Don't let then deter you. I got a LOT of grief over DS's name. Even though it is my dad's name, people still felt the need to make fun of it. Honestly that is why I started telling everyone his name was going to be Horatio Buford.

And Max is super cute!

I agree with the other posters, don't let them ruin it for you. iPad was an even dumber name that could be easily associated with maxi pads and Apple basically said, "We don't care what you think, dumbasses". Now no one says anything about the name. I seriously doubt they would *actually* call him that, but they are incredibly rude for saying they would. I think Max is a good name. Just chalk it up to them being dumbasses because people like that can never be pleased and honestly you wouldn't want to anyway.

Thanks ladies! I appreciate it! I know what to name a little boy Maximus even more! People are just so rude and inconsiderate sometimes!
