Hello. I have been TTC since March. We got pregnant in early June and unfortunately, it was a chemical pregnancy. I had a D&C on July 20th. Two weeks later I had a positive ovulation result. We decided to wait to TTC again until after my period. It has been 5 weeks since my D&C and I still haven't gotten it. Does this mean my HCG levels are not back to 0 yet? I am growing a little anxious. My acupuncturist thinks its strange that I have not gotten my period yet since I received a postitive ovulation result August 5 & 6th. Anyone else been in a similar situation?
I also recently received the results from my D&C and found I miscarried due to a chemical abnormality. We are seeing a geneticist next week.
I am 34 (no spring chicken) and my husband has low sperm count as well. Any advice? Should we continue TTC naturally or is IVF our best bet?
I feel so in the dark on all this stuff? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to TTCAL. How far along were you when you had your loss? Usually with a chemical pregnancy you do not need a D&C. After a M/C your hormones can be all out of whack. Your body might have geared up to O and then not have done it. Also OPK's can be positive if you still have HCG left in your system. As far as your DH's sperm count, it depends on how bad it is. Have you seen an RE or just and OB-GYN? There are so many things that it really depends on the situation. ((HUGS))

I was thinking the same as Katie- a chemical you typically don't need a D&C because it's so early. But it can take your body a while to adjust after a D&C, I don't think I ovulated the cycle after, it took another cycle to regulate my system.

IMO its a bit early to jump to IVF. If you are ovulating on your own, and able to get pregnant I would work on improving your DH's sperm count. There are some great fertility blend vitamins that have been really successful around here. Also there are a lot of options in MA before doing IVF. You can also look into a RE that specializes in male factor infertility, to see if there is something they can do also to help boost his sperm count.

Ditto the other ladies for a chemical you don't typically need a D&C. That said, my OB said it would take an average of 6 weeks for AF to return after my D&C and that is exactly what happened for me. I didn't track O until after AF returns, but I know my body was really out of whack due to all the hormones from the m/c so I wouldn't worry about it honestly.

As to moving forward, I'm not sure I understand the reason behind your loss so I can't really comment.

Hey ladies. Thanks for you insight. I was 6 weeks along when I learned of the chemical pregnancy. And I mispoke in my earlier message...my tests from the D&C showed I had chromosomal abnormalities. I will look into vitamins for low sperm count. Did not know those existed. Thank you. I'm hoping to get AF next week (6weeks since D&C). Can it take long to get pregnant after a D&C? I've heard your more fertile.

It took me 37 days to get AF after my d&c in January. I don't know about being more fertile after a d&c as were were on a TTC hold afterwards.

Yes, sometimes you are more fertile afterwards. I did not have a D&C, but rather a D&E, basically the same concept, but they don't do the "scraping". Anyways, my sister had a D&C and got pregnant within a few weeks of it, so it is possible to get pregnant quickly, but it really depends on your recovery time and your body. I don't know much about low sperm count, so I would follow the advice of the above ladies.

My last D&E, btw, I got pregnant about 6 weeks after, I don't even have a week since the D&E this time, so I can't comment on it yet. This recovery has been worse, so we will see what happens when I go for my follow up in 2 weeks. The waiting is the worst part!
