apparently this is a VERY confusing question, or perhaps I just say things in a confusing way. Doesn't mean I am stupid
I took soy isoflavones last cycle days 3-7, I wasn't sure it was going to work since I never O'ed on clomid, but low and behold, it moved my O up from cd 38 to cd 20-22.
if I take it different days will it make a difference? Should I stick with what worked last time? I took 3 tabs before, should I up it to 4? or again stick with what worked, yet ultimately failed?

You should only take the on cycles days 3-7 or 5 -9....that's it.
Cycles days 3-7 is supposed to make you produce more eggs.
Cycle days 5-9 is supposed to increase the quality of the 1 egg that you would normally produce.
I know you double the dose as well. What I mean by that is if you were taking 50mg of Clomid, then you should take 100mg of Soy. If you were taking 100mg of clomid, then take 200mg of Soy and so on and so forth.
I would say stick to what worked for 1 or 2 more cycles just so your body can get used to the soy. Hope this helps!

Wow! I didn't know that about the reasoning behind which days to take it. That's very interesting! Thanks for sharing that.
I agree that sticking with what worked is probably the way to go. The fact that it bumped up your ovulation date is fantastic!!! Good luck!!!

hmm, everything I have read this morning said those a just basic guidelines, because you can take clomid on other days also.
You also can't take exactly "double" the dose of what the clomid dose would be, because the dosage of each soy tablet is I think 40mg. so it is either 80, 120, 160, 200.
I don't have any idea if it did anything for the quantity or quality of my egg(s) - I do know that I woulds consistently O after cd 35 and it moved my O date up by 2 weeks, so I am wondering if I took it cd 1-5, or 2-6 if it would move O up even soon or not.
*edited to change confusing verbiage

I am on Clomid right now. I take 1 pill a day cycle days 3-7 and each pill is 50 mg. Your doctor will either tell you to take 50, 100 or 150 a day. That's what the clomid doses are.
My doctor is the one who told me that you should only take it one cycles days 3-7 or 5-9.................I would be too scared to take them any other days because it may screw my cycles up ROYALY!
The Soy tablets come in 40mg tablets...........not clomid. Therefore if you were taking 50 mg of clomid (1 tablet), then you would need to take 2 1/2 tablets of soy.....that would be 100mg of soy. I know you can't double the clomid. See if you understand it this way........
50mg of clomid = 100mg of soy
100mg of clomid =200 of soy
150mg of clomid = 300 of soy
Whatever you do.......DO NOT TAKE THE SOY AND CLOMID AT THE SAME TIME! This can REALLY mess you up from what I have heard. Hope this helps@@

Sounds like it helped! I'd stick to what you did this cycle, at least for now, since it seemed to work. When I took it I did 3-7 and I took 200mg- so it was actually easy on the 40 mg tablets since I just took 5 of them.

I would stick with it for at least another cycle since it moved your O date up. You shouldn't start it any earlier than CD3 because it can be less effective that way (from what my doctor told me). HTH and I hope you get your BFP!

I am not taking clomid, sorry I confused you. I actually worked in a pharmacy as a certified tech for about 8 years, - I do understand how medications and dosages work.
I also know that you can not cut a medication unless it is scored because the medication is not intended to be cut. Soy Isofavones are not scored. And yes, that is what I was referring to when I said you can not double the dose of the soy.
yesh sorry I asked.
I think perhaps I will only ask questions on the PCOS board.
another of my PCOS friends just took soy, then her doc decided to put her on clomid too, and she had an awesome cycle!
Thanks everyone.

I wanted to tell you I doubled mine as close as I could (didn't cut mine). Soy did nothing for me lol but I would think as long as your close in the dosage it shouldn't matter. Be careful if you up the dosage too much as it might over-stimulate. Please don't feel like you can't post questions here we are here to help as best we can

I don't think anyone thinks your a moron hun (hugs)! Some of us really don't know much about meds. It sometimes is helpful when other explain. I know when I first started trying I didn't know anything about TTC meds. I'm sorry AF arrived. I've been a hormonal mess since she showed up and I took the Femara.

I don't see anything in here that reads like someone treating you like a moron. Everything I've read seems like people are genuinely trying to be helpful.

Ditto!
I am sorry you are going through all this. And so you know, the Soy can effect your hormones like Clomid does. ((hugs)) I hope you get pregnant soon and you have to deal with a whole new set of fun (but worth it) hormones!

Lindsey- You can get Soy Isoflavones anywhere - even Walmart...
As for the original post, it sounds like soy worked great for you...if it worked that well, dont change anything...
I tried soy one cycle, and it made me O 2 days later (than my normal 32 day O at the time)...so, I Oed on CD34 and thought I was going to lose my mind that cycle...
Anyway, good luck - and good luck to you too Lindsey
