So I'm really new at all of this, and I have so many questions. I guess my first questions would be:

How soon can you try again? When do most ladies generally ovulate after a miscarriage. I stopped bleeding today, and it's been about 6 days since I started bleeding. I have no idea how to calculate my cycle after that. Do I treat it like AF in regards to cycle days?

My doctor said that when I want to try again, they will work progesterone into my med regimen; but how does that work? I guess my doctor's going to explain it to me, but I'm curious, what do you ladies do?

Is anyone else here hypothyoid? My doctor says that my thyroid is well regulated and that it shouldn't be a problem. She thinks that my loss didn't have anything to do with my thyroid.

What other tips and tricks can you offer?

Thanks so much! I'm a total noob at all of this.

OMG, you said noob and totally reminded me of my brother, he says that to everyone about everything - lol!

Anyways, I can't answer everything, but I am sure between all of us we will cover everything

You can't really treat the bleeding after the m/c like a cycle, and determining when you will get AF again is pretty difficult. The only way to really tell when you O after a loss is to test, which would be very expensive. I have already forgotten, did you naturally m/c. If you had a D&C or D&E, they typically say you can expect to see AF about 4-8 weeks after the procedure. I got mine at about 4 weeks both times. The docs will typically say to wait 2 to 3 cycles before TTC again, but I can tell you from experience, we waited for my first AF and then we got pg right away with my last loss, we went on to have a healthy DD. I am not planning on waiting this time either. I am about CD 5 and as soon as AF goes away, I am off and TTC again!

I don't know much about the thyroid, so I won't try to answer that one Nor do I know much about progesterone, but I know many of these ladies have or are taking it, so they should be able to help!

As far as additional advice, your body may not be exactly the same at all, so don't expect to feel the same symptoms during AF as you used to, that isn't to say that you won't, but don't get freaked out if something is different, it happens, might be for the better, might be the same, symptoms, such as cramping may be worse, there is no telling, but the good thing is that the body is resilient, patience (as hard as it is in a time like this) is your best friend!

Oh and have fun TTC when you do start

Well I'm fairly new at it as well but I'll tell you my experience and what I've learned.

I had a natural m/c at 11w,2d... I counted the day I passed everything as Cycle Day 1 of my first cycle after the m/c. I started temping and using OPKs that cycle. Before my pregnancy I had a pretty regular 25 day cycle. My first cycle after the m/c was 29 days and I did not ovulate. 2nd cycle was 30 days and I O'd on CD 19. This cycle is looks like I'm Oing on CD 13 or 14.

What I've learned is that we're all different and the best thing to do is to start paying attention to your body and don't have too many expectations or make comparisons. I have no idea what my body did pre-pregnancy because I never paid attention to it. But now I'm learning all kinds of stuff about my body. And I had to relax a little because I was freaked out when I didn't O the first cycle after my loss. But all of that is traumatic for our bodies and it takes a while to get things back to some kind of normal.

So don't worry if you aren't regular for a few cycles or if you don't get pg again right away or even if it takes you a while to O again.

And ask away! There are so many ladies here that are in so many different stages of TTC that there's always some good advice!

Hope that helps a little...

Thank you so much! You've both really given me some good answers already, this is a great group! So my M/C was natural, yes. Saturday was the day I passed everything, and then I've just been bleeding until today. Thanks again for the info, I think you're right that it's a good idea not to have a bunch of expectations right away, just get back in tune with my body and start figuring out where it wants to be, etc. Emotionally I think I need a bit of a break anyway, so probably in a couple of cycles sounds like a good idea. Thanks so much!

I am so glad we could help! And if you aren't emotionally ready, take your time! The more relaxed you are, the more you will "enjoy" the journey, now that you are actually TTC Giving yourself a couple of cycles will also allow you figure out signs and symptoms of O'ing, help you get in tune with your body.

GL and I look forward to getting to know you!

My OB recommended we wait until I had a normal AF (so effectively 1 cycle post-mc) before TTC again. But I had a D&C so that may impact things. As to your first ovulation that varies widely. Every woman's body reacts to m/c differently. Mine was pretty much back to normal after that first AF (which started 6 weeks after the D&C). I didn't track O during that first cycle though.
I don't have any experience with thyroid issues or progesterone but I know several other ladies here can help there.

My loss was at 5w4d and I Oed on CD 22 my cycle of my m/c I counted it as a normal AF and we did TTC but had a chemical pg. I had a longer time frame of EWCM and a later than normal O but did O and had a good progesterone level after O.

Good Luck!!

Thank you so much all of you for sharing your advice and experiences with me! I really appreciate it. I'm feeling a bit less clueless. I stopped bleeding today, so I guess things are moving along! I am definitely going to start temping. I actually don't own a thermometer, so I'll have to go buy one I think!
