I was checking my email this morning and my mortgage co sent me an email saying thank you for your payment that was received on 9/27 (yesterday), I was like, uh I paid that earlier this month and am not prepared to pay the next payment until next week! I immediately logged onto my account and it showed my last payment and then also showed this phantom new payment, so I called and they said yes, we are showing a payment made yesterday and then the guy did "research" and it was actually an incentive on our account for being such good customers...who would have thought that, although DH is out of work and we are struggling, that actually paying the mortgage on time would pay off...lol! PHEW!! Something positive for the week, oh and DH has an interview, yippee!!

Thanks, ladies! We have needed something good to happen and with DH going through what he has the past 6 months, he really needs this boost to his ego. I have everything crossed for him and thanks for your kind words

Well that was good news in the end!!
Our part of the country has been hit really hard with the economy. With the financial sector being such a primary source of income for so many here and the collapse of the mortgage industry coupled with Obamas credit card act "to help Americans" so many of my friends lost their jobs. (sorry ranting...) I used to work in Wilmington and lost my job 1.5 years ago. I found a new job right away but I only make 1/3 of what I did. My DH was out of work for a year. Hang in there - I hope your husband gets the job today.

Yeah, DE has been hit really hard because of the financial sector being hit and the car industry! Not to mention, a large refinery that shut down last year (the reason my husband lost his job and the reason he has decided to go back to school, so he can change what he does), I also hear another refinery is shutting down, because Sunoco is getting out of the refining business, not a good situation for us!
The job DH is interviewing for is a paraprofessional teacher, he is studying to be an elementary ed teacher, so this will get his foot in the door, but of course won't pay well, however, he isn't making anything right now, so whatever they pay him will be better than what he is making now

My opinion only - I feel the car industry in our parts is partially effected by the financial sector being hit so hard. People out of work = not buying cars = cars not being sold = cars not being made. My ex husband is a finance manger at a car dealership in upstate PA and they never got hit hard like we did down here. Did your husband work in a sales capacity or manufacturing?
Ugggg... Its all frustrating! I hope he gets the job!

He was in the refinery, not the car industry. He was contracted through his company, an environmental testing firm. He was the Industrial Hygienist for the site - he did a lot of sampling (air and material) for asbestos, etc. The plant got shut down, his company lost their biggest contract, he got laid off, a vicious cycle!
I agree all of them are related, it is just one big cluster mess (insert colorful word here)...someone needs to come up with a better idea!
Anyways, thanks, I hope he does too! He needs it for more than just the financial reasons though, his esteem has been low because he feels he isn't contributing to the family...it doesn't help for me to tell him that I don't blame him and he isn't the only one in his situation, he blames himself for not having graduated college, but that could have just as easily happened with a degree. This was the final push though to get him back to his goal of becoming a teacher! It was a "blessing in disguise".

Please let him know it is not his fault... but I understand about the self esteem part. My husband went through it in the worst way and it still hurts him. He has a 4 year college degree so education plays no part in this economy. Men are brought up to be the provider and being out of work is harder on them. ((hugs))
